Dwight "Tony" Barnes April 2, 1952 – April 19, 2018 Dwight "Tony" Barnes was born on April 2, 1952 in Mobile, Alabama and went to be with the Lord on April 19, 2018 at the young age of 66 years old. He is preceded in death by his father, William E. Sullivan, his father-in-law, Henry Tryon, and GrandDaughter Crista Barnes. Tony is survived by his mother, Margie Sullivan, and mother-in-law, Juanona Tryon; his loving wife of 45 years, June Barnes; sons, Michael Anthony Barnes and wife Elizabeth, Christopher Barnes and Curtis Barnes; sisters Daphne Camden, Delois Smallwood and Denise Bookter; and brother-in-laws, Charles Camden and Willy Smallwood, sister-in-law, Carol Reed and brother-in-law, John Tryon, 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; plus numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was a highly respected business owner for 43 years, whose business is listed on Expertise.com as one of the top 20 best used car dealers in San Antonio. He was an ordained minister in the Church of the Nazarene, and served his local church as Associate Pastor, worship leader, sunday school superintendent and board member at the Medina Valley Church of the Nazarene in Devine. His charismatic personality drew people to him, which allowed him to minister to them about his love for the Lord, which was his highest calling. He was extraordinarily generous, giving his time and money to those in need, often donating cars to people or doing auto repairs free of charge. He loved to mentor to the youth, offering sage advice and wisdom to young people about life and the Lord. When he wasn't working, ministering or making improvements to his home and property, he was an avid reader, often going through at least three books a week. But he absolutely loved going to the beach, and did so whenever possible. He adored the sounds and smell of the ocean, and would walk with his lovely wife (June) hand in hand, for miles looking for sand dollars and seashells. Everyone who knew him couldn't help but love him because of the love he freely gave and who he was and how he treated people. He was kind, yet firm, serious, but also had a wonderful sense of humor, and he loved to talk for HOURS, didn't matter the subject, he just loved to talk. He was extremely proud of his three sons, who he raised into fine, responsible men that are carrying on his legacy by running the family business. He never missed an opportunity to brag about them and their accomplishments and abilities. He always wanted his boys nearby, so he bought a large enough piece of property so that his sons could have homes next door, and our little community was affectionately named "Barnes Town". We even have a city limit sign, "Now entering Barnes Town, population 13, Tony Barnes, Mayor". He absolutely adored his wife June; she was his whole life and he never missed an opportunity to tell her, and show her. Every day he did all that he could to convey his love and affection for her. He will be patiently waiting in heaven for her, and would be the first to say "there's no rush June, take your time baby". Tony will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
