January 12, 1961 - March 28, 2022
A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, Alejandro C. Avilez, Jr. went to be with the Lord on March 28, 2022, at the age of 61. He was born on January 12, 1961 in San Antonio, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro and Maria de Socorro Avilez, Sr.; brother, John Avilez; nephew, Johnny De La Rosa, and brother-in-law, Gilbert Guzman. Alejandro is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Lisa L. Avilez; children, Alejandro Avilez III, Jessica Avilez (Chelsea) and Aaron Avilez (Stacy); 7 grandchildren, Abby, Jaxon, Penelope, Jada, Emma, Aaron Jr. and Alexa; sisters, Nellie Guzman and Anna De La Rosa (Johnny), and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Alex was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved his family and enjoyed traveling to attend events and celebrations that brought everyone together. His favorite annual trip was to Sanderson, Texas for their 4th of July celebration. This reunion of family was so special to him and became a tradition that lasted over 20 years. He was also known to pick up his phone and call family on any given day, at any time, and for no particular reason. He loved riding his Harley, attending motorcycle rallies, and meeting new people. Some of those new people ended up being lifelong friends, and he cherished those memories. However, his love of God, church, and brothers and sisters in Christ, was his passion. He was a Eucharistic Minister, served on the Parish Council, participated in the ACTS community, was a member of the Knights of Columbus Knights on Bikes, and a 4th degree Sir Knight. He loved his Priests, Deacons, and brothers and sisters in Christ who served alongside him. He loved and was loved unconditionally. We miss him already. Visitation will be on Saturday, April 2, 2022 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Name Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Mission Burial Park South.
