    Deborah Ann Jones

    October 9, 1952 - May 22, 2022

    Deborah Ann Jones answered the call of her heavenly Father to begin her life of eternal rest. A native of the Coastal Bend area where Rockport was considered home. She attended and graduated from Rockport-Fulton High School in 1971. Her spiritual life began by way of her love for music. She was the choir director at Friendship Baptist Church in Corpus Christi when she received and answered her call to preach the Gospel in April 1978. She received theological training at Howard Payne University and Texas Bible College. She continued to minister and sing throughout the Rockport & Corpus Christi surrounding areas until being appointed in 1981 to serve as Pastor of First Church of God in Tollette, AR. She returned to Texas in 1985 to continue her ministry in her hometown of Rockport and served the Texas State Assembly of the Church of God in many capacities. God opened doors for her to continue to minister thru preached word and singing outside of Texas. She was the guest speaker/singer for many revivals, conferences and other church programs in California, Tennessee, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Mississippi. In 1991 she moved to San Antonio, TX continuing the journey laid out for her. In 1993, she founded and established Northeast Community Fellowship in San Antonio. Deborah had a true call of God on her life was a true prayer warrior also. Outside of the ministry, she was a licensed cosmetologist and an avid seamstress. She made garments for herself and for her family. Deborah was preceded in death by her mother Mattie Bell Burton, two brothers Samuel Odoms and Willie Burton, grandson Brion McCray. She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband Oliver Jones, Sr., children Monica (Harold) Moore, Aaron (Vee) Anderson and Oliver J. Jones, Jr.; her grand children Candace, Isaiah, Shimea and Allison, Roderick, Jamarron & Brianna; one brother Paris Huff, Sr (Hortense) numerous nephews, nieces and extended family members and friends. Her services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022, 1:00pm at Rockport Church of God, 210 Highway 35 South in Rockport, TX. The Musical Memorial Tribute to celebrate her life will be on Saturday, July 23, 2023 4:00 pm at Beitel United Methodist Church. 227 S. Acme Road, San Antonio, TX
