    Ed Matney

    November 11, 1928 - April 10, 2022

    Ed Matney born on November 11, 1928 in Vanzant, Mo left this earth at the age of 93 to join his beloved wife Margarita R Matney of 63 years in heaven on April 10, 2022. He passed away peacefully at home in San Antonio. He joined the USAF March 15th, 1950 and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas where he met his wife and married her on his birthday on November 11th, 1950. The family stayed in San Antonio while he did tours throughout his 23 years in the military and then retired July 1, 1973. He is preceded in death by his wife Margarita R Matney, daughter Anna Marie Sarah Matney, daughter-in-laws: Karen Matney (Thomas) and Daisy Matney (George), great granddaughter Angel Cardenas, his parents: Thomas and Anna Louise Matney, brothers: Richard and Gary Matney, sisters: Trisha Matney and Sharlene Hamilton. He is survived by his children: Thomas E Matney, George F Matney, Patrick A Matney and wife Belinda, Katherine E Martinez and husband Jose, Kathleen M Hernandez and husband Roger, Wendell L Matney Sr. and wife Lisa, brothers: Russell Matney and wife Kathy, Joe Matney and wife Janine, Larry Matney and wife Linda, sisters: Shirley Foster and Rachel Matney. Additionally he leaves behind 21 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family members and friends. Visitation will begin on Monday May 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South located at 1700 SE Military Dr. Services will be at Noon on Tuesday May 10th. Interment will follow at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:30PM
