Eddie Guerra Rosales
August 24, 1935 - December 12, 2021
It is with an extremely heavy heart that the family of Eddie Guerra Rosales shares that he peacefully closed his eyes to be with our Lord and his mother in Heaven at the age of 86 on Sunday, December 12, 2021, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. For those that knew Grandpa, he enjoyed life to the fullest. He woke up early every morning with a checklist and his clock was always set 10 minutes early because he never wanted to be late, to work or to the party. He said hello to strangers and made them friends along his life journey. His energy came from seeing those around him happy. He loved his family immensely with all his heart. Grandpa always, always, wanted to have the last word. Even during his final conversation with his beautiful bride of 63 years, Grandma told him she loved him, and he said "Me too". Their love was unique, full of life, and looked upon as a true model to emulate. They kissed often and never missed a chance to dance when they heard a mariachi play. Grandpa worked hard every day to provide for his family. He learned early in life to work the fields and helped run the family restaurant, Eddie's Truckers Cafe on Conchos Street on the Westside of town. He later retired from his career at Kelly Air Force Base as a Quality Assurance Specialist, where he earned a multitude of awards and certificates during his 32 years of civil service. He lovingly cared for Grandma and their 3 wonderful sons, Eddie Jr., Ernesto, and Rene. He always made sure to give them a good roof over their heads, food on the table, and a catholic education. Let's just say the sisters at St. James Catholic School and the brothers at Central Catholic High School and Holy Cross High School knew the Rosales boys very well, Grandpa sure got his money's worth! Over the years Grandpa had the best care provided by his Head Nurse (La Mera Mera), Grandma Rosales. They appreciated all the love and support from Dr. Gerald Koppes and staff, Dr. Carlos Lozano and staff, Dr. Carlos Zem and staff, Dr. Ernesto Guerra and staff, and Adelita Lucio. Eddie and Ada have loved seeing their family grow over the years together. Many great memories were shared with John Ramirez (Candiss), Rosita (George), Yolanda, and their families. Linda, Sam, and Rachel have been like daughters to them. Their grandchildren: Michael, Jason, Christopher, Elliot, Lauren, Jasmine, Melissa, Annie, and Julanne, great-grandchildren: Lily, Matthew, Hope (in Heaven), and Noel, and great-great-grandson Vincent will always be loved by Grandpa. Grandpa always took the time to thank God for his blessings, always helped those in need, knew that each day was a gift, and never took any wooden nickels. Due to the new COVID-19 variant, the funeral chapel and church are requiring each person to wear their mask even if you are vaccinated. Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, from 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapel located at 1700 SE Military Drive, San Antonio, TX 78214. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm. The funeral mass will begin at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at St. James Catholic Church located at 907 W Theo Ave, San Antonio, TX 78225. Family and friends will meet at 9:30 am for final visitation prior to mass. Interment will be at a later date at Mission Burial Park South.
