Guadalupe B. Segundo
March 14, 1934 - April 12, 2022
A loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Guadalupe B. Segundo went to be with the Lord on April 12, 2022, at the age of 88, in San Antonio, TX. She was born on March 14, 1934, in Seguin, TX. She is preceded in death by her husband, Viviano Segundo; parents, Pascual and Sapopan Bernal; siblings, Julia Lozano, Adela Ramirez, Jose Bernal, Matias Bernal, Dolores Bernal and Sabas Insall. Guadalupe is survived by her 11 loving children, Norma L. Martinez (Michael), Viviano Segundo Jr., Irene Martinez, Victor Segundo, Irma Ramirez (Richard), Juan Segundo (Annie), Jerry Segundo (Linda), Rachel Ramirez, David Segundo (Rita), Cynthia Segundo and Leticia Ortiz (Emilio); 39 grandchildren, 110 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Guadalupe served the Lord Jesus by being a loving and wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. She always gave Godly counsel and advise to all her family. During times when the family got together for her birthday or special occasions, she would lead the prayer before a meal and everyone prepared for a long and lovely prayer. Guadalupe served as President of the women’s ministry at her church, El Horeb Assembly of God church, before she was diagnosed with Dementia and severe osteoporosis. As part of her ministry, she visited the Kenedy Health and Rehabilitation Center in Kenedy, Texas, where very ill prisoners were taken, many for end-of-life care. She prayed for them and took hygiene and other items collected from church and family members for the patients. If someone called late in the night to ask for prayer, she would answer the phone and pray with them. If they came over in the middle of the night, she would answer the door and invite them in for prayer. One of her sons recalls getting up in the very early hours of the morning and witnessed her praying for a friend who came to ask for prayer. Her faith was so genuine that many were healed when she prayed and petitioned The Lord for them. She did not drive, so she walked to prayer meeting every Saturday morning to petition God for the needs of her children and family. She never stopped praying. She was known to walk to 5:00AM sunrise service to honor Christ. The fact that she had to walk several blocks and up a hill did not deter her. Our Lord honored her trust in Him by drawing her children to Him. When one of her sons began a nursing home ministry, she went with him and continued until she could not physically do so. However, her son continues to serve God in this ministry. She was influential in the lives of many of her family and friends. This includes her sons, daughters, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, other family members and friends who serve God in various capacities in various Christian churches. She is deeply missed, but her influence will live on in her family’s lives and hearts. She is in heaven, resting from all her labors and in the presence of the Father and the one who loves her the most, our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Visitation will be Monday, May 2, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Mission Park South. Interment to follow at San Jose Burial Park.
