Henry D. Evans, age 88, passed away peacefully to be with the Lord on October 30, 2021, after a brief illness. Henry was born on June 14, 1933, in Hornell, NY. He served in the USAF for 23 years, and for the majority of his career was an accomplished member of the USAF Marksmanship Team based at Lackland AFB. After uniformed retirement, Henry served as an estate manager in Michigan and still later worked at the Kelly AFB Golf Course. He also sold and repaired golf equipment, a labor of love. Henry continually displayed a high level of energy and intellect and made friends easily. His positive personality was always on display. He was always generous with his time assisting others, whether at home, in the workplace, or in the neighborhood. He also enjoyed outdoor activities, including golf, and walking his dogs Chloe and Sage. Henry is pre-deceased by his wife, Jeanne N. Evans, brother Philip, and sisters Marla and Marta. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Calnan, sister-in-law Micheline DeBenne, son Philip (Deborah), and grandsons Scott and Eric. Henry cared for his wife and family with unconditional love. He was a loving husband, brother, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed by all. The Evans family extends its great appreciation for the love and compassion shown by the wonderful members of the Brooke Army Medical Center staff and Amedia Hospice. Service Memorial Service will be conducted at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, 7 December 2021. Inurnment will follow. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Henry and Jeanne Evans’ memory may be made to the Salvation Army or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
