He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Robbie Moses Carson, 4 siblings, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ed and Rusty Cody, and son-in-law, Allen Horne. Jim grew up in Burnet, TX, and was a proud Burnet Bulldog. After attending Daniel Baker College, he was drafted into the army where he served in Korea during the Korean Conflict. He later graduated from Southwest Texas State Teachers College with a Bachelor of Science in Vocational Agriculture and a Master of Arts in Education. On April 17, 1954, he and Robbie married and were a loving team for 67 years, until her death in May, 2021. Jim was an elementary school principal in Northside ISD for 33 years. He loved the children and enjoyed working with teachers, staff, and parents of the 5 schools he served. In 1998, James Carson Elementary School was dedicated in honor of Jim. He was humbled and honored by this recognition and was so very proud of the Carson Cowboys. For many years, he enjoyed woodworking and made bookshelves, bear benches, and countless other items that can still be spotted in schools around the district. After retirement in 1989, he was a mentor to students on elementary campuses. Jim loved Jesus and that reflected in everything he did.
