    Jonnie Thomas DeCotis

    December 1, 1962 - April 14, 2022

Jonnie Thomas DeCotis went to be with Our Lord on April 14, 2022, at the age of 59 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on December 1, 1962, in Houston, Texas to Martha Graham and Henry Thomas. She is preceded in death by her parents and her special niece, Kerri Hedspeth. Jonnie is survived by her loving husband, Don DeCotis, two children, Danielle DeCotis and Donnie DeCotis, her four sisters, Karen Eppler, Kay Weatherly, Kim Gann (Jimmie Gann), Bonnie Bransom, and her brother Alfred Thomas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Jonnie grew up in Houston, Texas, moving to San Antonio at the age of 18 where she began her career in sales. Jonnie had over 20 years of experience in the Private Health Club Industry, excelling in positions of Director of Membership, Regional Sales Director and Corporate Sales Development for such well-known companies as Club Sports International and the Concord Athletic Club before she joined the Dominion Golf Group as Director of Marketing and Sales and became the first person to surpass one million dollars in annual sales. She retired from Dominion Country Club after a stellar career and record-setting sales as a consistent annual award winner. Her athletic interests combined with a caring customer service orientation and bubbly personality ensured her primacy in the field. Along with her 16 years of service at the CAC, she ran seven marathons while involved with the CAC Running Club, including the New York and Boston marathons. In San Antonio, she was well-known in the running circles and friends to many in that world. Jonnie loved celebrations and hosted many for her friends and family. She threw many baby showers, bridal showers, and thoroughly enjoyed extravagant birthday parties for her two precious children, Danielle and Donnie. She enjoyed taking family vacations, traveling, being out on the boat, waterskiing on the lake and spending time at the family condo in Port Aransas. Jonnie was always going above and beyond for the people that she loved. She was involved in many aspects of her family’s interests. She re-founded and sponsored the St. Matthew’s Pep Squad, a team to prep elementary girls aspiring to be cheerleaders and dancers. Many of the girls went on to cheer in high school and even in the collegiate realm. Jonnie served as Sponsor of St. Matthew’s Cheer team which she repeatedly took to the UCA Nationals in Orlando, Florida. She was the ultimate “Cheer Mom” and biggest cheerleader for her loving husband and children. In her last eight years, Jonnie was able to spend precious time with her husband Don and both children. We will remember every loving smile, her soft special touch, and cute face riding around in her little red convertible. In lieu of flowers please donate to Alzheimer’s Association.
