Manuela Ortiz Guerrero
July 7, 1922 - March 6, 2022
Manuela Guerrero July 7, 1922 – March 6, 2022 Manuela “Mela” Guerrero entered eternal rest peacefully on March 6, 2022 at the age of 99. Manuela was born in Ciudad Victoria, the seat of the Municipality of Victoria, of the Mexican state of Tamaulipas to the parents of Sevastian Guerrero and Manuela Ortiz. Mexican citizens inherit two surnames: the first is their father’s last name, whereas the second is their mother’s. This tradition ensures that surnames exist for at least two generations. Mela kept this tradition and would often proudly identify herself as “Manuela Guerrero Ortiz.” She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Miguel Rosales; beloved brother, Eladio Guerrero. During her life’s journey, she considered herself blessed to share her life with her chosen family. Many of those chosen have preceded her and are there to accompany her on her final glorious journey home, especially Carmen Garcia, her cherished son, Richard Anthony Garcia, Mary Oliva and Delfina Reyes. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her chosen family Rosie Reyes and family [in particular Delfina Reyes’ grandson Robert Reyes], Martha G. Garcia (Richard Anthony Garcia) and their two sons, Richard Garcia and wife Elsa [their children: Vanessa and Jasmine] and Anthony and wife, Julia [their children: Antonio and Miles]; and Consuelo Garcia (Noe, Jr.) and their two sons, Noe and wife Laura [their two children: Grayson and Declan] and Michael Anthony Garcia and his wife, Kristen [their children: Madeline, Grant, and Meredith]; other loving members of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, members of the Guadalupanas and Spanish Choir, and loving friends [Gisela Hernandez and her daughter Miranda Rodriguez, Susana Garcia, Araceli G. Turner and family, Eufenia (Kenya) Herrera, Janie Espinoza, Amelia Burciaga and husband Vicente [their daughter Claudia Alarcon and her daughter, Natasha Calderon], and Maria and Carlos Martinez.
