Maria Elena “Helen” Medrano, age 86, entered eternal rest on December 24, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born in Poteet, Texas on August 14, 1935, the second of six children, of Guadalupe and Paulino Soto. Helen Graduated from Poteet High School in 1954. She was very involved with school activities playing volleyball, basketball, and pep squad. She later was married for 30 years. She worked at Kelly Field National Bank and banks that came after. She concluded her banking career with the former Norwest Bank. She enjoyed her career and was a loyal employee for many years. In her early days of raising a family, she could be found at sporting events cheering for her children. She was a very supportive mother. Helen loved to laugh and enjoyed family gatherings. She was an avid BINGO player and loved to take charter trips to the casinos. She never passed on an opportunity to dance, and her greatest joy was listening and singing along to mariachi music. Above all, she was a devoted mother, amazing grandmother, loving sister and wonderful aunt and a friend to all and will be dearly missed. Her loss will be felt by all those she touched but especially by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Manuel Soto. She is survived by her siblings Raul Soto (Susan), Paul Soto (Rosalinda), Marylou Garcia, and Jesse Soto (Susan) and her children Irma Medrano, Carlos Medrano (Sonya), Letty Jaso (Tony), and Becky Agueros (Clyde) and numerous Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren. Helens biggest passion was her family and was proud of each one of her children and grandchildren. Her beautiful smile has retired but her amazing soul remains with all of us. Helen will be buried alongside her Mother and Father.
