    Ms. Maria Estrada Rodriguez

    June 2, 1927 - November 29, 2021

Maria Estrada Rodríguez was born on June 2, 1927 in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México. Her parents were Diego Estrada and Eugenia Lopez Estrada. Maria had one older brother, Luis Estrada, and two older sisters, Florentina Estrada and Agustina Estrada; they all preceded her in death. At a very young age Maria demonstrated a love of God and learning. She was a devout Catholic and was always quick to say that she was a part of the Asociación Catholica in her youth. Maria learned to pray the rosary and led the rosary during difficult times. Maria loved to read and write. At the early age of 12, Maria became part of the workforce to provide for her family. She worked in homes and factories and took much pride in doing qualitative work. In 1945, Maria met the love of her life, Mauro Balboa Rodriguez. They married in 1950 and relocated to Piedras Negras, Coahuila. She supported Mauro’s goal to achieve a better life. Together they journeyed to Texas, working on ranches before settling in San Antonio, Texas. In San Antonio, Maria and Mauro lovingly raised their four sons. Even though Maria was far from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, she continued to communicate with her parents and was quick to help them. Upon Mauro’s retirement they were able to visit their beloved Monterrey and Mexico City. This was a joyful and well-deserved time for them. In 1996, God called Mauro Balboa Rodriguez home and Maria lived for 25 years without her husband. She fiercely valued her independence until about 4 years ago when she needed help. Her home was our reality – full of love and memories that made us what we are today. Maria is survived by four sons - David Mauro Rodriguez, and wife Patricia, Armando Estrada Rodriguez, and wife Carmen, Raul Estrada Rodriguez, and wife Frances, and Rogelio Rodriguez, and wife Cynthia; and by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other family and friends. Visitation will be held from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M., Friday, December 3, 2021 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South (1700 SE Military, San Antonio, TX 78214) with the Recitation of the Rosary at 5:30 P.M. with Deacon Jesus Alamanza officiating. The Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 A.M., Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church (618 S. Grimes, San Antonio, TX 78203) with Father Kevin Faucz officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Burial Park South.
