Martha Yantis was born Mary Martha Inglish, July 23, 1926 in Canyon, Texas. She was the 3rd oldest child of Bertha and Tom Inglish. She grew up on the Nueces river in La Salle county, graduated from Cotulla High School and then off to Cadet Nurse Training in Amarillo, Tx. She married Bruce Yantis on October 17, 1945. They were married for a phenomenal 73 years and 11 months and she was always home base to their four children and the children in the neighborhood. Her door was always open. Martha loved to be social. She enjoyed Bridge with friends, any dance she could get Bruce to, high school football games with neighbors and mostly, visiting with friends and family around her kitchen table. Martha and Bruce were members of St. Luke’s Lutheran church for nearly seventy years. She loved her Lord. She loved her church community and considered them as an extension to her family. Sunday was church, a Sunday lunch out and then home for Dallas Cowboy football. Whatever you may have called her, mom, grandma, Aunt Martha or Mrs. Yantis, she was always working on an afghan for someone made from their favorite colors. She made afghan’s for graduation gifts, wedding gifts, prayer shawls and new babies on the way. They were all customized to size, design, color scheme and stitch but the one common denominator was each was made with genuine love. She and Aunt Roberta perfected their candy making skills. During the holiday season from Thanksgiving to Christmas, Martha was always in the kitchen making candy. She made divinity, fudge, peanut butter, date roll and brown sugar candy. No one left without a tin of candy and she always had oatmeal cookies in the jar at the ready. Homemade candy was just another way for her to share her love for you. Bruce and Martha have had so many lifelong friends and neighbors that they dearly loved. They loved to dance together, travel and never met a stranger. Bruce and Martha were always together. Now they are together again. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, grandson Travis Yantis and great granddaughter Kinzington Faith Pree, her sister’s Kitty Beth McLaughlin, Myrta Thompson, Tommy Moore and brother Robert Inglish. Martha is survived by her children, Patricia Buchner of Dallas, Scott and Terri Yantis of San Antonio, Dusty and Dawn Yantis of Bellville, TX and Libye and Buddy Nuernberg of San Antonio; grandchildren, Erich (Ray) Buchner, Kristine Pree, Margaret Kosub, Callie Hulsey, Kacie Boyd, Jace Yantis, Wayne Nuernberg, Junior Nuernberg, Robert Nuernberg. Great-grandchildren, Raymond, Jake, Kaylin, Kiley, Genevieve, Gavin, Grady, Bo, Charlie, Hanna, Brantley and two sisters Roberta Bell of Carrizo Springs and Melba Busby of Round Rock. Martha was always loved and supported by numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by the Service at 11:00 am. on Monday, February 28.2022 at the Fred J. Tips Mausoleum Chapel at Mission Burial Park Dominion North, 20900 IH 10 West. Interment will follow at the Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Erich (Ray) Buchner, Wayne Nuernberg, Junior Nuernberg, Robert Nuernberg, Jace Yantis, Sloan Hulsey, Derek Boyd, Troy Pree and Chad Kosub.
