    Ricardo "Bongo" Vasquez

    May 1, 1960 - March 9, 2022

Beloved father, brother and friend, peacefully went to be with the Lord on March 9, 2022, at the age of 61. Ricardo was born May 1, 1960, in San Antonio, Texas to Gilbert G. Vasquez & Victoria C. Vasquez. He has reunited with his parents, siblings Rosalinda, Oralia and Guadalupe “Lupe” Vasquez. Left to cherish his memories is his wife of 31 years, Lisa Amador; children, Ricardo Vasquez, Felicia Vasquez (Lamar Satterwhite), Robert Vasquez, Jessica Vasquez Amador, Isaac Vasquez; siblings, Gilbert Vasquez Jr., Rodolfo “Rudy” Vasquez, Raul Vasquez, David Vasquez, Arturo Vasquez, Rene Vasquez, Ruben Vasquez, Mary Lou Vasquez, Rebecca Vasquez-Arriaga, and Rogelio Vasquez. One granddaughter and five grandsons, numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members. He enjoyed many years in the music industry that began with his brothers “Los Astronautas” and continued for many years working with a long list of bands over the years as a Sound Engineer to retire and come back to Manage and Run Sound for “Los RV Boyz” First Generation Nephews. He took pride in his work as an Engineer in making sure that every band sounded their best and everyone had a great time enjoying them. Throughout that time, he created bonds and friendships that would last a lifetime! Making memories that we all would cherish. Rick was always ready to go fishing with his Grande/Bruckner brothers; he enjoyed being out there waiting to catch a big one and coming home to brag about it. Let us not forget his “Beloved Dallas Cowboys” he was a true fan always dedicated and ready to defend them no matter what. He wore those colors and logo with pride and showed it any way he could. We will forever remember his smile, laughter and unique sayings "You got that right" and “YO”! To all that came across him knew he was someone that could make you smile, laugh and never forget him. Ricardo “Bango” Vasquez was loved by many and will forever be in our hearts! This is not goodbye but until we meet again! "Aye te wacho" Visitation will be Friday, March 25, 2022, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with a rosary at 6:30 pm at Mission Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Services will be Saturday, March 26, 2022, at 11:00 am at Mission Park Funeral Chapel South. Interment to follow at San Jose Cemetery.
