Robert “Bobby” “Burrhead” Villanueva 07-19-1931 – 11-15-2021 Robert S. Villanueva, affectionately known as “Corazon”, “Daddy”, “Grandpa”, and “Popo”, entered into rest November 15, 2021 at home surrounded by loved ones. He is survived by his loving companion of twelve years: Alicia Urdiales, daughter, Roxanne Ytuarte, grandsons: Robert Ytuarte (Tanya), Jason Ytuarte (Brissa), great grandchildren: Dominic, Hannah and Noah Ytuarte. Stepson: Anthony Lopez (Shari), grandchildren: Michael and Krysta, stepdaughter: Cynthia Stevenson. Brother: Juan Villanueva (Irene) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife: Rosa Lee Villanueva, daughter: Karen Marie Villanueva, parents: Ricardo and Guadalupe Villanueva, brother: Richard Villanueva Jr., and sister: Dolores V. Salas. Robert graduated from Edgewood High School where he played football and baseball. He played baseball for the CYO and the Spanish American League where he was the league’s top hitter as well playing slow pitch softball for Jordan Motor Company where he won a championship in Cleveland, Ohio. He also played for the United States Army while serving in Europe. Burrhead worked several jobs throughout high school. After graduating he worked as an iron worker and a wrecker drive for several car agencies. He worked for the railroad after returning from the Army, was co-owner of Creswell Wrecker Service with his brother Richard, owned Burrhead’s Texaco, worked at Riata Cadillac, was a self-employed wrecker driver for salvage pools, and a car salesman for Brown Chevrolet. He also worked part time for Oakdell Pharmacy after retirement. He enjoyed listening and dancing to country western music, woodworking and joke/story telling. His hobby of racing cars started at the old Pan American Speedway in the 60’s. He picked up racing again in the 80’s winning championships two years in a row and placing second the third year before finally retiring, but above all his proudest moments were cheering on his “mija” and grand/great grandchildren at their sporting events. He showed his appreciation to his close friends, VA Dr’s., nurses and Hospice team with a handshake and his signature wink. To his loved ones he’d always say, “Thank you for everything, be careful and I Love You.” Visitation: Tuesday 12/14/21 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Rosary: 6:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Funeral Service: Wednesday, 12/15/21 at St. Andrews Catholic Church Lytle, TX. Viewing: 8:30a.m. - 9:00a.m. Procession departs St. Andrews at 10:00a.m. Interment follows at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 11:00a.m.
