Sylvia Ann Ortegon
January 1, 1954 - February 26, 2022
There are so many words to describe who Sylvia Ann Ortegon was as a person and what she meant to so many people. Beautiful, kind, blessed, selfless, creative, thoughtful, strong, hardworking, generous, resilient, are just a tiny bit of ways to describe this beautiful creation of God. Our God in heaven invited her to join Him in paradise on February 26, 2022. After spending a month in the hospital, God answered our prayers to be able to come home to spend her last week on earth in her own home surrounded by her family, friends, and neighbors. A new years baby, born on January 1, 1954 in San Antonio Texas to Luis and Julia Cardona. Strong in her faith, she loved to share the Word with as many people as possible. Constantly praying over people, encouraging them to seek the Lord, and inviting them to attend church. She loved the Lord with all her heart, with all her mind, and with all her soul. A single mother of four children working countless hours a week to provide for them while also taking time to help others as well. She would drop anything she was doing to go help her children, grandchildren, family members, and friends. She served faithfully in church all for the glory of God. She definitely fulfilled the scripture in Proverbs 31, “her children rise and call her blessed”. She worked her way up from machine operator to Postal Coordinator/Supervisor at Focus Direct for 30 years. Then faithfully helping all her children grow their businesses. So creative, outgoing, she had style, a great sense of humor, patient, and great management skills. She had a special love for all her nieces and nephews, Ann Monic, Tony, Abel Rene, Carmen, Luis, Steven, Rudolph, Alejandro and Lynda Ann. Most importantly her love and devotion were to her children and family. The term in-laws or step didn’t apply to her, she loved and cared for them as if they were her own. She is survived by her children Richard Ortegon Jr. (spouse Linda), Christine Ortegon Moreno (spouse Larry), Michelle Ortegon Gutierrez (spouse Russell), and Jo Ann Ortegon Baeza (spouse Gerardo); sister Belinda Guerrero (spouse Rodolfo) and brother Luis Cardona (spouse Maria); sixteen grandchildren Jacob, Gabrielle, Anthony, Lawrence, Matthew, Michael, Bridgette (spouse Mitchell), Breanna, Alyssa, Alan, Brendan, Joseph, Isaac, Samuel, and David; and one great grandchild Eli James. She’s preceded in death by her parents, sister Amelia Flores, her nephews Abel Rene Cantu and Rudolph Guerrero. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 5:00 p.m. with a prayer service to be celebrated at 6:00 p.m. at Mission park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Interment to follow at San Jose Burial Park.
