Nobody else held me so tight Or made me feel so right No one's eyes shined so bright with love As my mom, who is now high above. The world lost a beloved mother, Yolanda G Garza, age 73, on September 20, 2021. Yolanda, also known as Yolie, battled Liver Disease, but it never stopped her from giving out the best hugs and smiles. Yolanda died in her home peacefully surrounded by her daughter, Michelle, and her sisters and brothers. Yolanda was born in San Antonio, Texas, on October 29, 1947. She claims to have learned everything she knew from her own loving parents, Santos and Celia Garcia. Yolanda was retired in 2002 from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. As a single mother, she worked very hard to support for her family. Her colleagues and friends knew her as a kind soul, always willing to cheer you up with hugs and smiles. She always brightened a room with full of cheer and laughter, Never a dull moment with Yolanda. She enjoyed and always wanted to be surrounded by family and friends. No one was a stranger to her. She enjoyed listening to her conjunto music and dancing. She attended many gatherings with her partners in crime, Elva Casarez (cousin) and Rachel Rodriguez (comadre). They followed the music scene and made many wonderful musician friends alone the way. Yolanda was the Thanksgiving guru and cooked every year for the family at her parent’s house, which started promptly at noon. She was always there for her family and friends. Yolanda’s Faith got her through any bad times, which she survived. She was a Women of Determination, Strength, and Love. Yolanda was a proud graduate from Brackenridge High School. Enjoyed Life To The Fullest! Yolanda, was preceded in death by her parent’s Santos G. Garcia and Celia Garcia; brother, Gerald Garcia (Elma). She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Garza-Rodriguez (Steve); sisters Belinda Garcia (Jesus) and Diana Arocha; brothers Santos Garcia Jr., Roland Garcia (Patricia) and Robert Garcia (Brenda). She is also survived by grandchildren Steven Edward Rodriguez, Nyah Renee Rodriguez and Tiffany Rodriguez-Martinez (Gil); great grandchildren Kylynn Martinez (BooBoo) and Asher Martinez (Sully); numerous nieces and nephews and friends. She was loved by all and will be deeply missed. Friends are invited to say a final goodbye to Yolanda at PALM HEIGHTS MORTUARY, 3711 S. ZARZAMORA, SAN ANTONIO, TX 78225 on Wednesday, September 29th from 5 to 9 p.m. The family will have a private session 4 to 5 p.m. per Yolanda’s wishes.
