With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Damian Anthony Garza, a beloved son, brother, uncle, grandson, great-grandson, and friend. Damian was 31 years young, born on April 16, 1994, in San Antonio, Texas, to Mark Anthony Garza. He departed this world on April 25, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering determination. Damian’s life was filled with passion and purpose. From his early years, his love for sweet potatoes and spaghetti remained steadfast, a small but cherished detail of his life. He found joy in collecting rocks, a simple yet meaningful hobby that reflected his appreciation for the world’s wonders. His love for sports began in childhood, playing Little League football and soccer, and continued through high school, where he excelled in rugby, even leading his team to a state championship. High school also nurtured his love for history and music and sparked his commitment to service through the ROTC, where he found his true calling. Damian’s dedication to serving his country led him to the United States Marine Corps, where he rose from Lance Corporal to Sergeant. His service took him across the world—Hawaii, Japan, the Philippines, Georgia, and California—where he honed his skills, earning top class in marksmanship and made several connections with his fellow Marine Brothers. Upon returning home, he pursued higher education at the University of Texas at Austin, earning a bachelor's degree in Economics. His college years were filled with camaraderie, school spirit, and fraternity life as a member of Lambda Chi Alpha, where he formed lasting friendships and made an impact on many lives. Those who knew Damian will remember him for his remarkable qualities: his patience, soft-spoken nature, and the immense love he carried for his family. He was passionate, resilient, noble, and deeply protective of those he cherished. He lived by a code of honor, always leading with kindness, determination, an authenticate big smile, and an infectious sense of humor guaranteeing laughter wherever he went. Damian is survived by his father, Mark; his brother, Josh; his sister, Alex; his beloved fur son, Spock; his four stepbrothers; his grandmother, Olga; his grandparents, Dave and Thelma; and a large and loving extended family. He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Raul, his uncle, Ruben and many others. Damian found joy in life’s simple pleasures—cooking out, working out at the gym, gaming, and spending quality time with family and friends. Though he may no longer walk among us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him. His radiant smile, boundless love, and warm embraces that will never be forgotten. Rest in peace, Damian. You will forever be missed and deeply loved.
