Tributes

On August 10, 2007, James D. Jim Hemby went to be with his Lord and loved ones who predeceased him. James was born in Stockdale TX on February 11, 1937. In his youth, James always had a job, but primarily, he worked with his dad in the cattle business and his grandfather in the home building business. James graduated from Brackenridge High School and U.T. San Antonio. He served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was employed at Kelly Air Force Base for 31 years, taking an early retirement in 1991. He subsequently served as the San Antonio Program Manager for Entek, Inc. for seven years, before essentially retiring for good to Medina Lake in Bandera County. Upon retirement, James became active in community affairs. He served as a director on the Board of the Springhills Groundwater Conservation District for four years. He also served many years on the Finance and Maintenance Committees of St. Victors Catholic Chapel, and was active in the Medina Lake Betterment Association and the Lake Medina Conservation Society. James was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Nataline Hartley Hemby; his sister, Joyce Purgason; his brother, Jack D. Hemby; his precious daughter, Jamie Arlene Lindley and a whole host of great family and friends. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of over 47 years, Arlene Poppen Hemby; his great son and daughter-in-law, Claude Shelton and Christine Hemby; granddaughter, Ashley, and a whole host of great family and friends. James was passionate about life, love, work, and music. He had a somewhat eclectic sense of humor, and always wanted to do things the right way. Special thanks to the St. Victors Chapel community for their spiritual support, and to the three Magi, who gave it their best shot, Drs. George Ford, Vijay Gunugatti and Ather Siddiqi. Services Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. The Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at St. Victors Catholic Chapel, 10514 Park Rd. 37, Lakehills TX 78063. Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park North.
