Jenavee Elizabeth Naumann passed on Saturday, June 25, 2016 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on May 1, 1964 in Lubbock, Texas. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Naumann. Her mother, Jan Sanders and step-father, Larry, father, Bob Burns and step-mother, Irene, sister, Jennifer Rawlings and husband, Dennis, nephew, Mason Rawlings, niece, Madeline Rawlings, and brother, Jeff Burns and wife, Hope Roth and children, Chrizney Roth and Joseph Roth. Also, in-laws Roland and Nora Naumann, sister-in-law, Julie Sheldon and husband, Charles, other family and friends. Jenevee married Thomas Naumann on October 16, 2004 at Emanuel's Lutheran Church in Seguin, Texas. Jenavee loved cooking and creating recipes. She graduated first in her class from The Western Culinary Institute in Portland, Oregon. She held various types of cooking jobs over her lifetime. For two years she worked at a Dude Ranch Resort in Montana and would sometimes take clients in the back country with food and supplies packed on a mule. She was a sous chef at several restaurants, one being the La Mansion on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, where she met her future husband, Thomas, when he was working on a construction project downtown. Jenavee had taken off work for awhile, but was getting ready to get back into the food culture with good friend, Tim Howell. They were planning to open several sandwich shops in different business buildings around San Antonio that Jenavee would manage. Thomas said she was very excited about this new chapter in her life. As a young woman growing up, Jenavee had a passion for horses. She had a Morgan horse named Dolly and another horse named Buttermilk. Jenavee would work in the stables to help with their up keep. They participated in many horse shows and won many ribbons. Her love for animals carried over throughout her life. Most recently she volunteered along side her husband with his work associates from Catamount Construction when they spent the day at the Primarily Primate Sanctuary. Jenavee enjoyed traveling with her husband. On the trips that they took, a stuffed monkey would accompany them and for fun Jenavee liked to put sunglasses on the monkey and take its picture wherever they went. Jenavee had a special place in her heart for the homeless and those down on their luck. She had developed a friendship with one specific person named David over the past three years. She and Thomas would help him out by providing food, clothing and personal items. This past Thanksgiving, they had invited him over to their home and Jenavee cooked dinner with all the trimmings for him. Thomas very much wanted to locate him because he was special to Jenavee, but he had recently moved to Austin and he didn't have a number. Yesterday, he called on Jenavee's phone and Thomas was able to tell him about what had happened. David shared with Thomas that a while back Jenavee had bought him some color books so he would have something to do. He shared that the night before he had felt a need to get them out and color. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at noon at Mission Park Funeral Chapel on Cherry Ridge in San Antonio. Interment will be held at a later date in Lubbock, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jenavee's memory can be made to the Haven for Hope in San Antonio, or to an animal association of one's choice.
