Orfelina Alaniz Arispe June 18, 1935 to June 29, 2016 On Wednesday, June 29th the world of those who knew her got a little quieter, a little bit darker. Orfelina passed from this world into the next, and those of us who knew and loved her know she would brighten that next world with her kindness and love. Orfie loved to meet and help people, and in her career as a beautician at the places where she worked, she met so many wonderful people who became her friends and who she loved dearly. Orfie kept many people in her heart and loved them all so much. She would share whatever she could with no regard to herself. In her mind others always came first. Orfie was a devoted Catholic who, with her sister Delia and brother-in-law Arturo Ynclan, was a Guadalupana. She loved to sing and play her autoharp. With the Peña family she attended mass at St. Mary Magdalen where she helped sell candles at the 7:30 am mass. She loved to watch her dear Peña family in the second to the last row of the church, and to see her nephews Raul Peña and Kenneth Cash serve as ushers. She would pray every day for all those whom she loved and knew. Orfie loved animals. She loved having pets; even after they passed she still loved them all and treasured each memory. She wanted to share her life with so many. Orfie became a sports fan and was very dedicated to watching games regularly. She prayed for her San Antonio Spurs. She was a fan of travel shows and wanted to travel, but did not because she would only go if she could bring her family. Orfie was full of love and humor. She was quick to bring a smile to those who were with her, and to laugh along with her family and her many dear friends. While she loved her whole family, Orfie had a special love for her sisters and their families, with love equal to each of their children were as if they were her own. Her granddaughter Elizabeth Ann, great granddaughter JolieAnn Marie, and Jo's dad, Matt Yanez, were a source of constant joy to her as well as her own children, Raul Antonio, Irma Elizabeth, and Daniel. She was so proud of each of them. Orfie was very grateful for all the help of those who loved her and helped her with her health and age. She loved to watch moves, watch cooking shows, to garden, and listen to music. She loved pan dulce, good food, and laughter. She loved good memories of special times in her life and would often speak of them. Orfelina had many special gifts that she shared with those she met. She could show people the best of themselves. Of her direct children she was the best parts of us rolled into one person. So much love without any spite, malice, or anger, all given freely and without hesitation. Orfelina will be greatly missed, yet she would want people to celebrate life and memory of that life and love. She would want everyone to be happy and treasure their family and loved ones. Orfelina is survived by her wonderful sisters, Delia Ynclan and Irma Navarro, and their exceptional children listed below and grandchildren. There are no words to express the special bond of these sisters and we, her children, are so grateful for their love and support through all her life's challenges. She is also survived by her nephews Pete Alaniz and David Alaniz, their wives Cynthia and Florencia respectively and their children. She is also survived by her brothers, Irineo Alaniz, Jose Luis Alaniz, Esteban Alaniz, and Juan Arturo Alaniz, their children listed below, and grandchildren. Her close connection to her brothers, their wives, and their families happened in the later years of her life and it was a source of great, great joy to be their sister and to spend time with them. The times spent in Corpus and in Tilden made her laugh, and her conversations with them have enriched her life and feeling of family. Orfelina was the daughter of Pedro Sanchez Alaniz and Orfelina Flores Amaya Alaniz. She is preceded in death by her beloved brother, Pedro Alaniz, Jr., his wife, Irma Alaniz, and her brother-in-law, Dr. Ralph Navarro. She was also preceded in death by Joaquin Saucedo Arispe and Robert Cardosa, to whom she had been married.
