Richard Nino Juarez, 89, passed away peacefully on January 26,2024 at his home with wife and children. Richard was born on September 9, 1934, to Antonio and Enriqueta Nino Juarez. His final days were spent surrounded by his devoted wife, sons, daughters, and family at his side. He is a graduate of Fox Tech class of 1953. He was a Lt. Colonel in the R.O.T.C. He continued his education at St. Mary’s University and was in the Marion Guard Drill Team. He proudly served his country in the United States Army 503rd Airborne Regimental Combat Team in Fort Campbell, Kentucky and with the 22nd Infantry Division in Germany during the Korean War. Upon return from military service, he married his loving wife Cecilia on January 27, 1957. During his 32 years of Civil Service at Kelly Air Force Base. He served in the Directorate of Material Management in logistics with the Headquarters Air Force Commissary Service, Directorate of Strategic Plans and Analysis, as a Management Analyst. He served as club President and Lt. Governor with the Northside Optimist International Club. He was a member of the St. Luke’s Men’s Club and served as the President of St. Luke’s St. Vincent De Paul Society. He was a Legislative Advocate for his Community. He loved to play golf, hunt, fishing, and barbecue. He was preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Enriqueta Nino Juarez, and sister Lidia Gibson. He is survived by his wife Cecilia, sons Jerry Juarez, David Juarez, daughters Maricel, her husband Christopher Zachman, Norma Juarez (James Sheerin). Grandchildren: Jennifer Butler (Dallas), Kristin Zachman, Philip Zachman (Natalie), Abilene Thayer (Josh) and Austin Benavides. Great grandchildren: Jack Butler, Liberty Butler, Luke Butler. Michaela Zachman, Margaret Zachman, Philip John Zachman and Tristan Thayer. He is also survived by his sister Irma J. Teniente, two nephews (Tony Gibson, Tommy Teniente) and four nieces (Linda Gang, Patricia Baraty, Laura Kessler, Kathy Teniente). In lieu of flowers we kindly request donations be made to (St. Luke Catholic Church) Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
