Adela G. Acosta, known by many names - Dela, Dela Costa, Peetree, and a few others we dare not speak of here, passed away March 3, 2024 surrounded by the love of her family and the memories of a life well-lived. A true dreamer, Adela leaves behind a legacy of laughter, sass, sarcasm, and an indomitable spirit. She is survived by her husband, Ernesto "Jerry" Acosta, daughters Roberta Pieterick and Arlene Siller, sister Rosemary Gallegos, brothers Albert and Richard Gallegos. She finally accepted the title of "Grandma" only 15 years ago, after much protest because “she was too young to be a grandma”. Adela's vibrant presence will be deeply missed by her grandchildren Joshua Castillo, Andrew Jackson, Jordan Castillo, Aliyah Jackson, Elijah Jackson, Gavin Ng, and great-granddaughter Charlie Castillo. Adela was a social butterfly, a flip feminist, and a force to be reckoned with. Her beauty was only surpassed by her vanity, though in her final days, we finally uncovered her true hair color when she couldn't make it to the salon. She had a way of lighting up a room with her smile, charm, wit, and infectious energy. She was gravity, and all were drawn to her. Throughout her life, Adela wore many hats - a single mom raising three girls, the life of the party, and the heart of every celebration. Her home was always open to family and friends. Music and laughter followed her wherever she went. But perhaps her most remarkable act of love was caring for her daughter, Carol, after her accident. For 17 years, Adela dedicated herself to Carol's care, showing unwavering love, patience, and strength in the face of adversity. Though dementia may have clouded her mind in her final days, it could never dim the radiance of her spirit. Adela was a hopeless romantic, an emotionally charged force of nature. She lived life with passion, humor, and an abundance of love. As we bid farewell to our beloved Adela, we remember not how she left this world, but how she lived in it - with boundless energy, unwavering optimism, and a heart full of love. The world may seem a little quieter without her, but her memory will forever live in our hearts. Now, as Adela rests in peace, she will be welcomed into eternity by her beloved daughter, Carol, her grandson, Jared, and her mother, Antonia. Rest in peace, beautiful.
