Our loving mother, Adelicia Manuela Salinas, born August 24, 1926 in Benavides, Texas, went to be with the Lord on September 6, 2012. Adelicia was 86 years-old and died peacefully in her home in San Antonio, Texas. She was the daughter of Manuel Salinas and Paulita Flores of Benavides Texas. Adelicia is survived by her two children, Joseph E. Salinas, Jr. and Marie Antoinette Salinas, both of San Antonio, Texas. She is also survived by her sister Carmen Sheldon of Corpus Christi, Texas, her two nephews, Albert Sheldon, Jr. and William Sheldon of Houston, Texas, her niece Linda Joy McDaniel of Corpus Christi, Texas, cousin, Chumbe Salinas of Benavides, Texas, and cousin Ventura and his wife, Sylvia Flores of Corpus Christi, Texas. Adelicia is survived by Lisa Joy McDaniel, daughter of Linda Joy McDaniel and Lisa's children, Madison Leigh Morales, Cassandra Lynne McDaniel, and Lucee Luv Peterson. Adelicia also had one brother by the name of Arturo Salinas who proudly served our country during World War II and has already gone to be with the Lord. Other predeceased family members include her brother-in-law, Albert Sheldon, Sr. and nephew George Sheldon both of Corpus Christi Texas, and Adan and Maria Salinas of Benavides, Texas. Adelicia, born and raised in Benavides, Texas, grew up with a love of music that she gained from her father who had been a prominent musician in the area. She became proficient at the piano and saxophone and loved to play boogie-woogies on the piano. She played saxophone in the Benavides High School Eagle Band and was a proud graduate of the class of '44. Adelicia Salinas met Mr. Jose Efrain Salinas, Sr. shortly after high school and they married on March 23, 1949. The couple moved to Corpus Christi, Texas and then lived in Waukegan, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, where their first son was born on December, 27, 1954. The couple returned to Corpus Christi and then moved to San Antonio, Texas in the early 60's. Adelicia and Jose's daughter was born on February 13, 1964. Adelicia worked at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi, Texas shortly after high school and also at the Great Lakes station in Chicago, Illinois. Adelicia stayed home to raise her son after his birth and dedicated her life to raising her children. She enjoyed several hobbies including gardening, growing roses, playing the piano, reading novels and magazines, all types of music, crochet, and embroidery. She was also involved with the PTA and was a proud band booster parent for her daughter's school and often attended the football games to root for the band. It was not uncommon for puzzle and Monopoly marathons to break out in the Salinas household. She enjoyed shopping at Joskes. Sears, H &L Green, Woolworth's, and Kress. Adelicia being the last born child was affectionately known as Bebe by her entire family. Bebe, you will be missed and know that you are now in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, your mother, father, and brother, and all family that has passed before you. We love you, our dear Mother, and we will miss you until we meet again. Bebe will be laid to rest at Mission Park South on September 12, 2012 at 1:00pm in the afternoon.
