Adolfo R. Martinez, born March 23, 1928, in Hunt, TX to Roman and Elena Martinez, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the blessed age of 97. He is reunited in heaven with his parents; wife Clara D. Martinez; and sons Adolfo Martinez Jr. and Victor R. Martinez. He is loved and will be greatly missed by his children Rosalinda Reyes, Antonia Cardenas (James), Robert Martinez (Oralia), Gloria Turner (Malcolm), Michael A. Martinez (Mary), and Beatrice Menchaca (Armando); 27 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; 27 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends. Serving as pallbearers will be: Michael A. Martinez, Brandon Martinez-Votion, Albert Hernandez, Jr., Michael Adolfo Martinez, Jr., Jayden Alderete, and Johnny Angel Perez. Adolfo was a man of strong will, determination, and a reserved demeanor. He was a native of Bergs Mill, Texas, where he met his wife, Clara D. Martinez, with whom he shared 44 years of marriage until her passing. Throughout his career, Adolfo demonstrated a strong work ethic, dedicating himself to the role of a laborer/brick layer until retirement. He maintained a membership with the Laborers Union for more than three decades. Adolfo had a deep love and pride in his family. He had many passions and pastimes in life: rock collecting, raising roosters and chickens, landscaping, and fishing at the Acequia, Espada, which he enjoyed sharing with his children and grandchildren. Adolfo was known for his stories, always starting with, " In 'Dem Days," before telling a funny story, and would smile with his deep dimples on full display. Everyone knew his firm handshake and his pursed lips as he contemplated a witty story. He loved going to the Jamaica Festival at the Missions to hang out and remember the good old days. And occasionally, he would drop in at San Juan Capistrano Mission Chapel to attend mass. The Martinez family would like to give thanks and appreciation for the care and support given by the staff at Baptist Medical Center Downtown, Dr. Saul Montelongo, Devoted Healthcare and Hospice Services (Linda M. Paez-Cedillo and RN Thelma), Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church LaCoste, TX Guadalupanas and Father Leo, we are also grateful for the care provided by Dr. Tom Gonzaba to our father, Adolfo Martinez, for over 35 years. To his children and grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, Adolfo leaves behind a void that can never be filled. He also leaves behind a torch to continue our life's journey and continue his legacy, that is YOU. Heaven has gained a treasured soul. He will live forever in our hearts.
