Beloved father and grandfather, Albert Bazaldua, age 96, peacefully entered into heaven on March 13, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas and was “willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord” (2 Corinthians 5:8, KJV) when the Lord was ready to call him home. The youngest of four children, Albert was born on January 19, 1930, to Sabas and Herlinda Bazaldua in San Antonio, Texas. He attended Trinity University and earned a Bachelor of Arts (1954) and a Masters of Education (1958). Albert taught art and math at Jeremiah Rhodes Middle School from 1954 to 1994 and retired to begin his second and most rewarding career of fulltime grandpa. A man of unwavering faith and devotion to his family, Albert loved art, music and nature and always enjoyed a good pot luck with family and friends. As an educator at heart, he was always ready to impart a nugget of wisdom, a story with a life lesson or the most appropriate scripture for any situation. Albert was the cornerstone of our family and always there to provide love, encouragement and support. While he will be greatly missed, we take comfort in knowing a part of him still lives on in the many lives he touched along his journey and that we will see him again one day. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith” (2 Timothy 4:7, KJV). Albert is survived by his daughter, Jean Elizabeth Vargas (Michael); grandchildren, John Flores (Claudia), David Flores, Nathan, Joshua and Matthew Vargas; great-grandchildren, Eliyanah, Joseph and Leilani Flores and Amora Vargas; nieces and nephew, Cynthia Woolley, Mary Grace Luna, Rosalinda and Sam Sierra; several cousins and countless brothers and sisters in the Lord. SERVICES Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2026 from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. A service to honor his life will be on Friday, March 27, 2026 at 12:00pm at the funeral home chapel, with Rabbi Scott Bloom officiating. Private interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South for close friends and family.
