Tributes

Albert G. Kellner, Jr., born April 5, 1928, went to be with our Lord on February 23, 2015 at the age of 86. Albert was eldest child born to Albert Sr. and Annie Kellner in Floresville, Texas and lived most of his life in San Antonio. He was a long time member of St. David's Episcopal Church. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 62 years Margie Lea Kellner; daughters and sons-in-law Laura and Tim Woodall and Colleen and Johnny Wells; grandchildren and their spouses, Sara and Clayton Zercher, Shanna and Jeremy Davenport, Amy and Quinn Dahlberg, Alan Woodall, Mikki and Lee Harris and Darren Wells; great-grandchildren Colt and Ellie Zercher, Zane and Corban Davenport, Blake and Paige Dahlberg and Jordan and Donovan Harris; sisters Joyce Mathis and husband Jerry and Carolyn Kellner; brothers and sisters-in-law Eugene and Geraldine Kellner and Fred and Ann Kellner and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Good Shepherd Hospice and especially Albert's nurse Rose for their kindness, compassion and care during a very difficult time. Albert had a servant's heart. His ministry was the gift of helping others. He was always available to a neighbor or friend to take to a doctor's appointment, moving something that required extra muscle, or to just have a quiet talk. In his years at St. Stephen's and St. David's Episcopal Churches, he was a faithful usher, volunteer to help cook or serve the congregation, weekly volunteer to deliver Meals on Wheels to those in need, and any other service needed. Albert loved baseball and golf. He stayed in excellent shape by playing golf once or twice a week. He combined his love for sports and helping others by volunteering to work on events that were held in San Antonio like professional golf tournaments and basketball playoffs. He never met a stranger and loved to visit and talk with others. Albert was a good, honest and Christian man and will be remembered most for his kindness, compassion for others, sense of humor and his very joyful heart. Albert was a loving husband, Dad, Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, brother and friend to many. He loved his family and his family will miss him tremendously. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that remembrances be directed to St. David's Episcopal School for "Growing the Tradition" or your favorite charity. Funeral service will be Monday, March 2, 2015 at 10:30am at St. David's Episcopal Church at 1300 Wiltshire Ave, San Antonio, Texas 78209. Graveside service will follow at 1:00pm at Mission Burial Park South.
