Alfredo M. Carranza, born October 15, 1940 in Lexington Nebraska to Carlos and Genoveva Carranza was called to be with Our Lord on November 3, 2018. Alfredo was survived by his loving wife of 56 years Rose Marie Arcos Carranza, sons Sigifredo (Amelia), Emilio, and Orlando Carranza, grand daughters Mia Sara Carranza, Marisa Carranza and Ashley Renee, 2 great grandchildren, brother Cleo, sister Rachel along with numerous nieces and nephews. Alfredo attended Brackenridge H.S.; and was a proud U.S. Army Veteran that served honorable with the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles” in Fort Campbell Kentucky. He had successfully completed over 43 parachute jumps once his term was complete. He was very proud to be a part of such a prestigious unit. He epitomized the airborne attitude before the unit was developed and retained the “All the Way” attitude until his illness. He was also a life-long member of the Alamo Silver Wings Airborne Associations, Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Bicentennial Post 579. Alfredo retired from Kelly AFB after 36 years of service holding his last position has a Senior Planner. Alfredo was a loving, selfless man. Even up to his last days he always thought about others and helped individuals in any way he could. Alfredo was a licensed plumber and an accomplished carpenter with numerous projects from an eight sided gazebo, garages, bay windows, wooden decks, concrete projects, roofing and numerous additions. Alfredo also received his Real Estate License with Century Twenty-One. He was involved at St. John Berchmans for 17 years and coached CYO baseball for numerous teams his sons participated in. He passed on a lot of advice and knowledge to his sons and others. He liked to work hard and play hard. When it was time to work, it was time to work and he did not believe in doing both until the job was done. Alfredo and Rose loved to dance and enjoyed traveling spending all of their time with one another. He did not believe in saying, “I love you” because anyone can say those words – he believed in ACTION! You knew he loved by what he did for you. He liked the old eighties advertisement, “Just Do It.” He did not like idle conversation but conversations that were beneficial with knowledge to help improve his life and his families. We find comfort in knowing Alfredo is no longer battling any illnesses and is at peace with Our Lord in Heaven while continuing to always be in the hearts forever. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM, on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Palm Heights Mortuary. The procession will depart at 11:30 AM for a 12:00 PM Mass, on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
