Alice Mae Harvey (Jenkins), was received into the arms of her Creator on April 11, 2024, at the age of 98, in Garden Ridge, Texas. Born on January 19, 1926, in Witchita Falls, Texas, Alice walked through life with a spirit of humility and a heart full of gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon her by the Lord. As a Real Estate Broker, Alice embodied the teachings of Christ by treating every person with kindness and respect, seeing in each a reflection of God's image. Her career was not just a profession but a ministry through which she provided shelter and comfort to countless families. Alice’s earthly journey was shared with her treasured sister and best friend of over 90 years, Melba, her daughter Melody (Jim), and a lineage of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved immeasurably. She has been preceded in her heavenly journey by her parents, six siblings, her husband Coda, her son Darell, and her daughter Sharon, who have welcomed her into the eternal kingdom. She will be remembered for being a force of a woman, the very stereotypical definition of a redhead. Redheads make up less than 2% of the population, so to say Alice was unique is an under statement. She embodied this fierce nature in her tenacity to work hard, pray hard, and love hard. Her faith was strong and never wavered even through her toughest challenges in life. “Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.“ ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭31‬:‭31‬ ‭NIV‬‬ The family extends an invitation to gather in solemn remembrance at Brookehill Funeral Home, 711 SE Military Dr., San Antonio, TX 78214, on Tuesday, April 23. A private visitation will be held from 4-5pm, followed by a public visitation from 5-7pm. A graveside service to celebrate Alice’s life and her return to her heavenly home will be conducted on Wednesday, April 24, at 10:30 am at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209. In honor of Alice’s legacy of generosity and service, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the Baptist Temple food pantry at 901 E Drexel Ave, San Antonio, TX 78210, (210) 533-7114, as a tribute to her lifelong commitment to nurturing the bodies and souls of those in need.
