Alicia Garcia Perez, 93, entered eternal rest on July 21, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born in Laredo, Texas on July 17, 1931, to Jesus and Dolores Garcia. As a child, the family moved to Zapata and Hebbronville before eventually returning to Laredo. During her high school years, she worked as a bookkeeper for her father, who worked for American National Insurance Company. After graduating from St. Augustine High School, she married Fidel Perez Jr. and had four children. With unwavering determination, Alicia managed to buy an empty lot and build their first family home during the time her husband was stationed out of state and serving in the U.S. Army. Always a hard worker, she developed a passion for helping others with multiple positions in customer service. She worked at Sears for many years, working her way up to Division Manager. In 1974, the family moved to Mesa, Arizona, where she worked as a bank teller. With the goal of returning to Texas, the family moved to Big Springs, Texas, before finally settling in San Antonio. In her last job before retirement, she worked at Sam’s Club where she excelled at her sales position and specialized in supporting customers from Mexico. Alicia loved socializing with others and enjoyed playing cards with friends and taking monthly trips to her favorite casinos. Her boundless love of travel took her to Europe, Hawaii, and the Caribbean. Alicia was preceded in death by her parents; Jesus and Dolores Garcia, siblings; Arturo Garcia, Lydia (Jose M.) Sanchez, and Bertha (Ramon) Hererra. Alicia is preceded in death by her parents and loving husband Fidel Perez Jr. Left to cherish her memory are her sisters; Elvia (Phillip+) Sulak, Norma (Raul+) Guevara, Sylvia (Rudy) Martinez, her children; Rachel Tallent, Rene Perez, Gilbert (Lerida) Perez, Rolando Perez, and grandchildren; Charles (Tami) Tallent and Sophia Perez. We cherish the memory of Alicia for her strength, wisdom, and the joy she brought into our lives. Her spirit lives on in our hearts and in the way she shaped us. Though she is gone, her legacy of love and generosity remains. We honor her memory by carrying forward the lessons she taught us and the love she gave so freely. A Mass service for Alicia Perez will be held at San Martin de Porres Church, 1704 Sandman St., Laredo, Texas on Saturday, August 24th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a burial service at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 3600 McPherson, Laredo, Texas at 10:30 a.m.
