Alicia Solis, dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday April 12th at the age of 97 to be with the Lord. She was born on January 20, 1926, and married to Richard R. Solis for 68 years. Alicia is preceded in death by her beloved husband Richard R. Solis, parents Candelario and Macrina Urbano, daughter Sandra, brother John Urbano, sister Annie Cano, son-in-law Alfonso Cervantes, granddaughter Monica Cervantes and great- granddaughter Sloane Andrade. She is survived by her loving children, Ophelia Cervantes, Sam Tijerina Jr. (Yolanda), Alice Fernandez (John), Lisa Andrade (Pete), Cynde Solis, Vincent Solis (Emily), Richard Solis (Gabi) and her sister Linda Perez. Grandchildren Elizabeth, Laura (Tres), Marcus, Alexandra, Claire, Isabella, Nicole, and Andres; great- grandchildren Ryan, Madeline, Ava, Alli, Molly, Liam, and Teagen. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mom was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She was a beautiful gift from God to her children. She possessed beauty, grace, kindness, love, and passion inside and out. Mom's smile would light up the room. She had a passion for cooking. Some of her favorites included chicken mole, fried chicken, homemade tamales, thanksgiving dressing, salmon abondigas. She loved her hot coffee, limeade Aguas Frescas and Lipton sweet tea. Mom enjoyed taking drives through downtown San Antonio, especially during Fiesta and Christmas with dad and her children in the backseat. Some of her treasured memories included travelling to Rockport, Monterrey, Acapulco, and San Miguel. She was a dedicated Spurs fan, even when they lost. In her later years, she enjoyed playing and winning at bingo with the family. Mom loved sitting outside on the porch, admiring the red birds, squirrels and Blinki the cat. The family would like to thank the ER team at North Central Baptist Hospital and Embrace Hospice for their compassion and care of our mother. We appreciate the support, prayers, words of encouragement from family and friends during this time. Our mother made an impact on many lives and will be forever missed. Until we meet again. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a vigil service and blessing to begin at 6:00 p.m. and a rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with a funeral procession to depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Mission Burial Park South.
