Alona (Loni) Patterson of San Antonio passed away on June 26, 2023 peacefully while holding hands with her daughter Dawn Patterson. She is survived by her only child, Dawn Patterson of San Antonio, brother David Hensley of Detroit, MI; numerous nieces and nephews, special friend Jerry Guyton and family, life- long friends Barbara Alspaugh, the Ingram family, the Portella family, just to name a few. She was preceded in death by both parents and step-parents, and one step brother. Her parents met in Indiana, and after marriage she was born in Biloxi, Mississippi on 5/2/48 to Albert and Dorothy Hensley. Her father a handsome Military man, and her mother a beautiful educated daughter of immigrants from Spain. Loni graduated form South San High School here in San Antonio, and Cook County Jr. College in Wichita Falls, TX. After high school in 1968 she was employed by the City of San Antonio Police department where she reported to the very well respected Chief of Police; Chief Bixel. She then met and married (on her 21st birthday) Floyd "Pat" Patterson who was stationed at Lackland AFB. She always said he was the love of her life. Soon after, they were stationed in Columbus Ohio where she was employed by Ohio Bell. Upon her returning to San Antonio, she worked Civil Service at Wilford Hall in the Cancer Unit. She was such a hard working lady, she also worked part time selling real estate with Century 21. Not only was she one of the first female agents, but also a million dollar producer. From there she entered the Fortune 500 arena as a top selling agent for Pitney Bowes. The last and final chapter of her career was when she joined the team at Southwestern Bell Yellow Pages. She was an accomplished sales representative, a member of the Vice President's Circle of Excellence. She was promoted to management as well and retired from there. All of her live she made life-long friends everywhere she went. Being a member of the Yellow Pages Family was something she held so dear to her heart. The strongest friendships ever made, a bond that could never be broken. She was a past committee member for the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo, and loved sitting in on parties up at Party at the Farm. The most gorgeous smile, funniest sense of humor and the most caring, loving friend one could ask for. She will be so greatly missed. Although she has gone to live with Jesus now, she will never be far away, smiling down on all of us and telling us she is ok. The family of Alona "Loni" Patterson would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Floresville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their passionate care of Loni.
