Amalia Garcia Craig, 83, entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Amalia was born in Coahuila, Mexico, to Valentin Garcia and Epifania Hernandez Rodriguez. She was a devoted mother of seven and a woman whose life reflected her deepest values: respect, education, hard-work, and unwavering faith in God. She instilled these principles in her children and extended them to everyone blessed to know her. Throughout her life, Amalia served countless families in the community through her domestic work – relationships that grew into bonds of genuine care, trust, and mutual love. Her church, Southside Baptist, was her spiritual home. She was a faithful participant in church programs, including Vacation Bible School, and she cherished the fellowship she found there. She was known as a “prayer warrior” and her go-to bible verse was John 3:16. One of her major joys was cooking for her family and her favorite color was white. She was also fond of yellow roses. Preceded in Death by: Parents: Valentin Garcia and Epifania Hernandez Rodriguez, Eleven of her siblings: Chicho, Augustine, Guadalupe, Belen, Polo, Herminia, Maria, Jose, Frances, Adela, Guillermina, Daughter: Princess A. Craig, Former husband: Carl B. Craig Amalia is survived by Children: Carl Craig, Jr., Alma Garcia, Maria de Jesus Castro (Albert), Juan Craig, Emmett Craig (Letty), Valentin Craig (Lanette), and Duke Craig. Grandchildren: Vanessa Jimenez (Charles), Albert Castro, Jr., Rosanna Castro (Cristal), Ruben Castro (Gina), Ilse Core-Craig, Emilio Craig, Melanie Craig, Brooklyn Craig, Austin Craig, Kayla Craig, Duke Craig, Jr., Doreen Craig (David), and Destiny Craig. Great-Grandchildren: Jozlyn, Madison, David, Journey, Adam, Levi, Genesis, James, Bronson, Morgan, Emery, and Arleth. Extended family: Gilbert Garcia (nephew), Concha Garcia (sister), and sister-in-law(s) Rita Garcia, Susana Garcia, and Linda Garcia. The family of Amalia Craig wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Pastor Albert Byrom & Southside Baptist Church, and to her loving neighbors and friends who shared their energy, compassion, and laughter.
