Amelia E. Garcia, age 95, loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, entered into rest on November 23, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on August 7, 1928 in San Angelo, Texas to father, Tomas Esparza and mother, Maria Esparza. Amelia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Antonio C. Garcia; sister, Olga Lopez; and brothers, Raul Esparza, Jose Esparza, Mario Esparza and Mateo Esparza. Mrs. Garcia is survived by her brother, Jesus Esparza; daughters, Genevieve Quinn and Amelia (Mellie) Garcia; sons Juan Antonio, Fernando, Hector, Carlos, Luis Alberto, Ricardo and Andres; daughter-in-laws, Anna Marie, Barbara, Lupita, Mary, Juanita and Lizette; and son-in-law, Britton Quinn. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Mom was born in San Angelo while the family worked the cotton fields. Since day one, she knew the definition of hard, manual labor. Yes, she loved being a ‘fashionista’ with a beautiful outfit for every occasion but she also knew how to roll up her sleeves to sweep, mop and dust her entire home without flinching. She took pride in a few things, one of which was keeping her home in straight order and another was to keep her kids in order as well. She taught us discipline, structure and respect, which we will be forever grateful for. One of her favorite things was the love she had for her garden. She enjoyed sitting on her back porch surrounded by flowers and plants she had borned from seedlings. Another of her favorite things was to travel. She was overjoyed when she went on a cruise and she couldn’t stop smiling the entire time. Many times there she was on a road trip with her daughters just to have dinner or visit a church or visit a friend. These trips weren’t about the destinations, it was more about making memories with her. Mom also had a great sense of humor that will be greatly missed. She was quick witted but best of all, she knew how to laugh at herself. She loved life and lived it to the fullest until God called her home. She will be missed by all who knew her. Visitation will begin on Monday, December 4, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. with a rosary to begin at 6:30 p.m. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels Cherry Ridge. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church.
