Andres Morales, age 77, joined our Heavenly Father on Tuesday August 30, 2011. As he left, he was surrounded by loving and devoted family and friends. He was a man of great character, faith and humility. His family was his foundation. He was born on August 23, 1934 in Uvalde, Texas as the 6th of 9 children to Fernando and Clara Morales. His youth was spent in Uvalde enjoying the company and friendship of his many brothers and sisters. He graduated from Uvalde High School and later received his B.S. in Pharmacy at the University of Texas at Austin in 1959. He married Ida Resendez Morales in Nov 1964 and they were blessed with a son, Philip, in 1966. They moved to San Antonio and in 1972 they were blessed with a daughter, Stephanie. The couple lovingly raised their children in the community of St. Matthews Catholic church and continue to be members. His faith has always been a comfort to him especially over the last few months of his life here on earth. He and his family know they will be reunited in the presence of our Lord. He worked as a pharmacist for 50 years. For several years he had his own pharmacy in Uvalde before moving to San Antonio and taking a position with Walgreens pharmacy and later Kmart pharmacy. He worked with Kmart until his retirement in 1999. Andres truly enjoyed his work as a pharmacist and helped multitudes of people. His greatest loves were his family and the Texas Longhorns. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. His time was always best spent just being in the presence of his wife, son, daughter and six grandchildren. He was their "best friend" as they would often say. He very often travelled to Uvalde and Austin to be in the company of his sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews. He was greatly loved and admired by all around him. His exuberant smile will be greatly missed. Andres was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Herlinda Vela, Jose Morales, Victor Morales, Teodula Gonzales and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Ida Resendez Morales; son Dr. Philip Andrew Morales and wife Dr. Tina Vielma-Morales, daughter Stephanie Morales. His surviving siblings are sister Rosa C. Hill and husband Marcos; brothers Juan C. Morales and wife Genoveva, Antonio C. Morales and wife Dora, Oscar C. Morales and wife Santos. He had 6 grandchildren- Sarah Michelle, Samuel Andres, Jacob Ray, Emma Marie Morales and Cheyanne Marie and Isabel Denise Reyes. He also had numerous loving nieces and nephews as well as many longtime friends who will miss him dearly. SERVICES Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM Friday September 2, 2011 with a vigil service to begin at 7:00 PM at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Mass of the Resurrection will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 3, 2011 at St. Matthews Catholic Church with entombment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
