With deep love and heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Andrew Gomez Jr., on March 26, 2025. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his children, leaving behind a legacy rooted in faith, devotion, and family. Born on December 7, 1935, in Elmendorf, Texas, Andrew was the fourth of five children born to his loving parents – Andres Botello Gomez and Elena Garza Gomez. As a young boy, his family moved to San Antonio, where he graduated from Brackenridge High School. He went on to proudly serve in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas. Andrew shared 63 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Gladys Gomez, with whom he built a life grounded in love, tradition, and faith. Together, they created a warm and welcoming home in the Dellview neighborhood, a place filled with laughter, resilience, and unforgettable memories. He worked tirelessly to provide for his family, dedicating over 20 years to Hostess Confectionary and later retiring after more than 25 years of service with FedEx Ground. He was a faithful and long-time member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church. A man of many talents, Andrew could fix or build just about anything—storage sheds, car engines, home projects—you name it. He was a long-time fan of the Cowboys and a die-hard Texas Longhorns fan. Even in his final days, he continued to watch his Longhorns navigate their journey through March Madness. Nothing brought him greater joy than his family. After retirement, he and Gladys fully embraced their roles as grandparents, picking up their grandkids from school and daycare, attending every event and activity, and being present in every way that mattered most. Later in life, Andrew moved into Villas de San Antonio, where he built deep friendships with the residents, nurses, and staff who cared for him like family. Andrew is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Gladys Gomez, and his sister, Esther Garcia. He is survived by his devoted children: • Debora Kulpaca, married to Jon Kulpaca (Grand Prairie, TX) • Joyce Hoover, married to Billy Hoover (Seguin, TX) • Andrew Gomez III, married to Sylvia Sendejo • Jaqueline Gomez • Ann Marie Gomez-Burreson married to Erick Burreson (Van Alstyne, TX) • Jennifer Gomez, married to Juli Gomez He was a proud grandfather to eleven grandchildren: • JP Kulpaca, married to Meggin Kulpaca (Arlington, TX) • Camille Kulpaca • Katlyn Hoover, married to Trey Rollins (Kerrville, TX) • Gunnar Hoover • Maricella Gigliotti, married to Anthony Gigliotti (Katy, TX) • Marques Gomez • Taylor Burreson • Jacey Burreson • Jenna Gonzalez • Jess Elle Gonzalez • Izabella Rose Stevens-Gomez He is also survived by six cherished great-grandchildren: Colin James Kulpaca, Jackson Ryder Rollins, Harper Kate Rollins, Lincoln Hayes Rollins, Gweniveve Gladys Gigliotti, and Mia Katherine Gigliotti. Andrew is survived by his beloved sisters: Eudelia Gonzales, Emelia Lopez, and Stella McCardle. In addition, Andrew is survived by his sister-in-law, Sylvia DeLeon. His youngest sister, Stella, shared a unique bond with him, calling him every morning without fail—a tradition they maintained until the day he passed away. Andrew will be laid to rest with military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter 3, on April 11, 2025, at 9:30 a.m., where he will be interred alongside the ashes of his beloved wife, Gladys. Later that day, we’ll gather for a Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Villa de San Antonio (8103 North Hollow, San Antonio, TX 78240), followed by a reception in the foyer at 3:00 PM.
