Anita Castillo (née Salazar), born on January 10, 1954, in St. Johns, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2026, in San Antonio, Texas. Anita was the beloved daughter of Frank Salazar and Emma Garcia Salazar, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her husband Ricardo (Richard) S. Castillo, her brothers Frank Salazar Jr., Able Salazar, and Armando Salazar. Anita is survived by her cherished siblings: Yolanda Perez and husband Tom, Mary Alice Salazar and husband Joe, Dolores Pena and husband Gustavo, Robert Salazar, Gilbert Salazar and wife Jeneace, and Richard Salazar and Sylvia Uribe and husband Danny. A devoted mother and grandmother, Anita leaves behind her daughter Grace Fox and husband Andrew; her stepson Richard Castillo and wife Belinda; as well as five grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Anita’s professional journey truly began in 1974 at the Hilton Palacio Del Rio Hotel on the San Antonio Riverwalk. Over the course of an impressive 44-year career, she earned six promotions through her dedication and hard work. During her time at the hotel, she had the unique opportunity to meet several famous actors—a testament to the vibrant environment in which she thrived. Anita retired in 2018 after decades of service marked by professionalism and commitment. Beyond her career accomplishments, Anita's life was filled with passions that reflected her generous spirit and zest for life. She loved family events, including memorable Salazar family reunions that strengthened bonds across generations. She also loved monthly breakfasts and laughs with her sisters. Her heart for giving extended to volunteer efforts such as the Blue Santa drive and food bank initiatives. She also supported veterans through regular donations. Anita found joy in traveling to Las Vegas for exciting trips and in cheering for the San Antonio Spurs during basketball games. Her devotion to her dogs was unmatched; they were a constant source of love in her life. Even now, they remain with family members who will continue to care for them as Anita would have wanted. Anita’s legacy is one of love, generosity, and dedication—to her family, community, career, and passions. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Anita Castillo rests in peace, surrounded by eternal love. A Service will be held on July 2, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM at Mission Park South Funeral home 1700 SE Military Dr. The burial service will be at FT. Sam Houston Cemetery at 1:00 PM
