Anna Mae Hardy, most recently of League City, TX, went home to eternal life on May 8, 2026, at the age of 71, after a tough fight with cancer and other related health issues. She was born October 12, 1954, in Sherman, TX, to Frank & Gladys Gibson and grew up experiencing many different places as a military daughter. Anna had a 5 decade career in healthcare, working as a nurse in numerous capacities, including long-term care, traveling as a consultant and case management. She retired in the Spring of 2024 from Humana Healthcare, and later moved close to the beach, which she always wanted to do. One of her last supervisors with Humana described her as an amazing person with a heart of gold, also stating the team was better for knowing her. Anna had several hobbies and passions. She loved reading, movies, and traveling - especially to the beach, Santa Fe and upper Michigan, to see her family there. She enjoyed good rock music and going to concerts. She herself was musically talented, having played the piano many years in her youth. Within the last decade of her life she also took guitar lessons as well as art classes while living in Amarillo, TX. From that experience she created quite a beautiful portfolio of watercolor paintings. Of all things, Anna loved family the most. She was a fiercely loving mother and proud grandmother. She also deeply loved her cousins, nieces and nephews. All who she really enjoyed spending time with when she could. Most who knew and loved her would agree she was feisty and strong, but deeply compassionate. She knew how to have a good time and to be there for those she loved. Anna is survived by her son John Hardy of League City, his wife Kimberly and granddaughters Haley & Lilly Hardy, as well as her daughter Risa Holmes of Amarillo, her husband Daniel, granddaughter Eden & grandson Chase Holmes. Other surviving family members include many cousins, her aunt & uncle, nieces & nephews as well as many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Frank & Gladys Gibson, her oldest son Samuel Hardy Jr. as well as the father of her children Samuel Hardy Sr. whom she was married to for over 20 years and maintained a close bond with. To honor her memory, a celebration of life service will be held Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. - 2:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South, 1700 SE Military Dr. San Antonio, Texas 78214. This will be a come & go style visitation where any and all who knew and loved her are welcome to come share their memories. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Anna's name to a charity of your choice.
