Anthony (Tony) Charles Ramirez, 61, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Tony knew God at a very young age. His mother Charlotte was a very disciplined prayer warrior and reminded her son that Jesus was everywhere, especially in his heart. Tony grew up learning and knowing AC/Heating with Cruz and Sons. Even though he spent his career at AutoZone, University of the Incarnate Word and finally retiring with the City of San Antonio, Tony was still everyone’s favorite AC man. For decades, he kept San Antonio families nice and cool. Family and friends will remember Tony for staying up all night next to his BBQ pit grilling countless of chicken and sausage for both Antoinette and Lettie’s fundraisers. None of that could compare to his signature brisket and weekender sandwiches that his children loved and have replicated for their own families. Tony walked to the beat of his own drum even as a child. He instilled this same will into his daughter and son as well. His greatest treasure is his two children. Tony was extremely proud of who they are as people and what they stand for. Along with their mother, Tony created one of the safest childhoods that was full of exploration and adventure for Antoinette and Marcus. He had the best of both worlds, his baby girl that he had so much affection for and his son that he wanted to be greater than he could ever be. In 2002, he continued creating this world of wonder for his first grandchild Marcus. Tony’s youthfulness came back in full swing with his little sidekick. They spent days fishing, talking, and learning from one another. These two were two peas in a pod. Tony’s heart was filled once again with the birth of his second grandson Roman Gabriel in 2022. Their conversations were about all the “big boy” things they were going to do. Being a grandfather was one of Tony’s greatest roles. Tony was a simple man. He was a lover of music, the ocean and most of all, his family. Tony will be truly missed by all that knew him. He was born May 15, 1961 in San Antonio, TX. Tony is preceded in death by his father Cruz Ramirez, his mother Charlotte R. Alba and his sister Mary Lopez. He is survived by his daughter Antoinette R. Villarreal (Roman) and son Marcus S. Ramirez, his grandsons Marcus Ramirez and Roman Gabriel Villarreal; brothers Roy Ramirez, Leo Ramirez and David Ramirez, sisters Diane Saur and Linda Castaneda. Tony also leaves several nieces and nephews who will sadly miss him. A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge, San Antonio, TX 78230.
