Arabela Abby C. Torres, 77 was called upon our Lord on Wednesday August 20, 2014 at her home in San Antonio, Texas. She was born on December 4, 1936 in Del Rio, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Gustavo and Araminta Gutierrez Cardenas and brother Gustavo A. Cardenas. She is survived by her beloved husband Francisco Torres Jr. of 57 years, children Anna Maria Torres, Ruben Torres, Francisco Torres III Rhonda, Robert C, Torres, Roger A. Sawyer Monica, and Andrea M. Sawyer; siblings Ruben Rene Cardenas, Ricardo Eli Cardenas, Norma Linda Cardenas, Sylvia Delgado, and Carmen Cecilia Castillo; grandchildren: Rory, Jason, Jason, Justin, Ryan, Frank, Royce; great-grandchildren Jakob, Lauren, Jordan, Carson, Cole, Devontae, Mai-Linh, Kai-ro, Remington; along with numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives. Abby was born and raised in Del Rio, Texas and was a graduate of San Felipe High School in 1955. At the young age of 19, she moved to San Antonio to attend Alamo Beauty College where she obtained her license and worked as a cosmetologist. Shortly after obtaining her license, she attended San Antonio College where she also worked for San Antonio Independent School District. She then began working for Harlandale Independent School District where she would retire early with over 20 years of service to open her own business with her husband as a Barber and Beauty Salon owner. Abby successfully owned and ran Andrea's Hair Design for over 30 years. Throughout her life she received numerous recognitions and awards for her accomplishments; she was also a lifetime member of Principe De Paz Iglesia Metodista in Del Rio. She loved reading, traveling and was very passionate about education. Abby had an endless unconditional love for her children and her family. She raised three generations of children and will be remembered as a selfless, hard working, generous, loving, honest, devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 p.m. at Dellcrest Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at San Jose Burial Park.
