K E R R Armstrong Kerr, beloved father, grandfather, and great grandfather, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008 in his Boerne home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years Ruth Miller Kerr, his parents, two older sisters and two older brothers. He is survived by is children: Elaine Cashion and husband Jim, Jack Kerr and wife Louise, and Janet Buske and husband B.K.; grandchildren: Erin Ricky Barnett, Jess Kerr, Jack Brittney Kerr, Jacob Kerr, Garland Buske, and Lindsay Buske; great-grandchildren: Joshua and Kendall Barnett, and Kyler Buske; and a nephew, William Northway. Armstrong was born at home on March 16, 1913 at 215 W. Craig in San Antonio, Texas to Alta Lake Kerr and Livingston Armstrong Kerr. He attended Travis Elementary, T.M.I. and graduated from Main Ave High School in 1929. He was a longtime member of Laurel Heights Methodist. He later attended Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX and continued at St. Mary's University for 4 years. He married Ruth Miller Kerr on July 12, 1941 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers during W.W. II. He was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska from 1943 – 1944. After the war he served in Germany at Ramstein AFB from 1945 – 1946. His wife Ruth was able to join him in Alaska where they enjoyed ice-skating, cross country skiing, and winter sports. Armstrong was the owner operator of and Exxon Service Station at 7th street and Brooklyn Sts, which now is part of the new edition to the San Antonio Riverwalk. After their children were grown, they enjoyed traveling, square dancing and playing bridge. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing dominoes, especially 42. He was a lifelong adult member and deacon of the Beacon Hill Presbyterian Church of San Antonio. He also was a 32 degree Mason and Shriner. Armstrong and Ruth built a home and moved to Boerne in 1997. The First United Methodist Church was their Church home in the Hill Country. His life revolved around being with his family and friends. He will forever be in their hearts and thoughts. SERVICES Visitation will begin at 6:00 PM on Thursday, July 31 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 1 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South with interment to follow at Mission Burial Park South. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his honor to the Rainbow Senior Center of Boerne Building Fund, c/o 745 W. San Antonio, Ave, Boerne, TX 78006, or a charity of choice.
