Arthur “Art” Teneyuca Moreno May 17, 1944 - March 30, 2025 Art, a loyal husband, beloved father, and loving grandfather known as “Pipo”, passed away on March 30, 2025, surrounded by his wife and three daughters. Art lived a fulfilling life and was known for his deep pride in his family, his enduring love for Tejano music, and his commitment to service. Art grew up on the Southside of San Antonio and graduated from Harlandale High School. Following high school, he entered the Navy and distinguished himself by serving four years in active duty; he loved to share stories of how he circumnavigated the globe three times. After serving his country with tremendous pride, Art attended St. Mary's University, where he actively participated in the Civil Rights movement and voter registration advocacy. During his time of community engagement and block walking, he met his future wife, Gloria Mayo, a student at Our Lady of the Lake University. Art and Gloria made their home in Austin, where they raised their three daughters. Art was immensely proud of his civic contributions as a charter member of the Greater Southwest Optimist Club and as one of the founders of the National Hispanic Institute. Art’s professional career was in Human Resources. He served in the administrations of four Texas Governors; Texas General Land Office; and, the Texas Department of Health. While his civic and professional accomplishments are grand, he was most proud of his family, where he was the rock for his wife and three daughters, and a loving “Pipo” to his eight grandchildren. Art is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Gloria Mayo-Moreno, and his cherished daughters: Leticia (married to Frank Caballero), Victoria (married to Jorge Herrera), and Gabriela (married to Aaron Saenz). He is also survived by his grandchildren: Frankie Caballero, Lucas Caballero, Sara Caballero, Ilan Herrera, Alejandra Herrera, Carolina Herrera, Mateo Saenz, and Tomas Saenz. Art was preceded in death by his parents, Geronima and Amalio Moreno. A rosary will be held on Friday, April 4th at 6 PM at Mission Park Funeral Home (Cherry Ridge). A Catholic mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 7th at 9 AM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, followed by interment at Fort Sam National Cemetery at 10:45 AM. A reception will take place at Alamo Brewery immediately after the interment. In memory of Art, his family invites all who knew him to celebrate his life, his legacy, and the love he shared with those around him by enjoying life and turning up the music! The family thanks the incredible team of healthcare professionals at Morningside Manor and CHRISTUS Hospice who cared for him with dignity and love during his last year and final days.
