Dose Audrey Jean Dose, 63, entered eternal rest on June 15, 2005 after a lengthy illness. Audrey is more commonly known as Nanny to her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 ½ years, Lloyd Skip Dose May 16, 2005, mother Margaret Donigan Howitz, father Paul Lange Ross, brother Russell Thomas Tommy Howitz. She is survived by her three children: Susan Dilling Tom of La Vernia, Sharon Dose of Dallas, and Robert Dose Betsy of San Antonio. She was the loving Nanny to Gary JR Greenwood, Shelby Linn Greenwood, Annie Dilling and Tommy Dilling all of La Vernia, and Aaron Lange Dose and Lindsey Boyd of San Antonio. She is also survived by her sisters: Maxine Burkhammer Richard and family of California and Barbara Hutchinson Keith and family of the United Kingdom, as well as a host of nieces and nephews, and many close and dear friends considered family. Audrey retired from the Southside Reporter in August 2002 due to her health. She cherished her years at the Reporter, and developed many lifelong friends during her tenure. Prior to her health deteriorating, when she was not spending time with her family, she worked meticulously on her arts an crafts. She enjoyed participating in the various arts and crafts shows in the San Antonio and surrounding areas, and was an avid supporter to the La Vernia Bears. As her children were growing up, she and Skip dedicated many years of their time to the Highland Hills Little League Keineburg Field and Highland Hawks Pop Warner football organizations, not to mention the school PTAs and other school organizations attended by her children. Like Skip, they each shared a love of auto racing and enjoyed watching their son Robert, build and run his race cars. There was never a stranger at the Dose house, and anyone who ever came into contact with our Mom had a friend for life! If you knew our Mom, then you also knew that she had a wild side to her as well. She was the instigator in many pranks, and never missed an opportunity to participate in a prank, including driving the getaway car. Mom was also an avid Spurs fan. She continued to watch the Spurs games up until the time of her death, always leading them in cheer to victory, with Tony Parker being her favorite player. Always supportive, encouraging, nurturing and kind, she was someone you could always count on. She was a true warrior when it came to battling her health. No one fought harder or longer than she. Unfortunately, her last few years were spent battling her numerous health complications, but she fought to the end. At her last breath, she was able to rest peacefully and give us assurance in our hearts that God sent Daddy down to pick her up to be with them. We know that you and Daddy are rejoicing in your reunions with your parents and siblings and will forever be watching over all of us. On behalf of our mother, we send special thanks to Dr. Qureshi, Dr. Patel, Dr. Wood, and Dr. Shaik, as well as the highly skilled staff and nurses at Northeast Baptist Hospital. We would also like to thank the staff at Trisun Nursing Home-Windcrest, in particular, Grace and Jerry, for their tender care to our beloved mother during her stay at Trisun. Our friends, Art Arredondo, Brian Mater, Jeff Snyder, Michael Bowling, Paul Bowling, and Art Hasty will serve as pallbearers, and Steven Rich as an honorary pallbearer. Services Visitation with the family will be on Monday June 20, 2005 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday June 21, 2005 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels South with Pastor David Dave Gale officiating. Interment to follow at Mission Burial Park South. The family welcomes you to join them at their home following the service. Donations may also be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, or to a charity of your choice in her name.
