Barbara Jean Limón went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 21, 2023, at the age of 77. She was born on July 27, 1945, in San Antonio, Texas. Ms. Limón grew up in San Antonio, Texas, on the Westside of San Antonio. She developed hard-working skills from a young age. Her family, Mom, Dad, and her brother and sisters, would migrate to the Northern states yearly to harvest crops, cotton, cherries, corn, and cauliflower, working side by side with her parents from dawn to dusk. When in San Antonio, she helped her Guelito José García prepare syrups for the raspas and load up the carrito to go with him to sell raspas and dulces por las calles. She attended Edgewood High School and then worked at numerous sites such as Lackland Airforce Base, preparing meals in the cafeteria; she worked at SAS, sewing shoes at home. She worked at Levi's jeans. But her PRIDE AND JOY was baking and cake decorating. She worked and retired from HEB grocery in the Bakery department as a Cake Decorator. There was NEVER an occasion that we did not have a cake at home. All birthdays included delicious home-baked cakes. She also prepared professional wedding and quinceañera cakes. Another pride and joy for my Mom were her two pecan trees. She planted them over 60 years in the backyard of her childhood home, and to this date, the pecan trees are still in her home, providing the most beautiful shade and a bounty of pecans! Ms. Limón is preceded in death by her parents, José and Marcelina Martinez, and siblings, Eva Ramirez, Rudy Martinez, and Raquel Herrera. She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Nazario Limón; her beloved children, Robert Limón (Angie Limón), Paul A. Limón, Adrian Nazario Limón, Maria Cristina Alvarado, JoAnne Elizabeth Ruiz Limón (Brad Ruiz) and Miguel Limón (Cathy Limón); grandchildren Brianna Marie Limón, Adrian Limón, Damian Limón, Natalie Rae Limón, Marissa Lysette Limón, Felipe Limón, Gabriella Limón, Cristina Alexandra Alvarado Limón, Erbey Efrem Alvarado, Ian Lee Alvarado, Miguel Angel Alvarado, Arcelia-Jean Quetzalli Alvarado, Amilia Elizabeth Ruiz, Robert Bradley Ruiz, Marie Ann Limón, Cruz Macario Limón, and Cali Alisa Limón along with 13 great-grandchildren. The Limón family would like to thank Tia Bertha Villa Limón, nephew Cesar Limón, and his wife, Gladys Limón, for their love and support in Ms. Limón's illness. We welcome you to join us at the funeral home, Mission Park South, on Monday, July 31, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. and a memorial inviting everyone to express gratitude to our beloved Mom at 8:00 p.m. We also welcome you to join us at San Martin de Porres Church at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2023.
