With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Bertha Luna Rodriguez, who entered eternal rest on January 30, 2025, at the age of 81, in her home in San Antonio, Texas. Bertha was born on March 4, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, to Alfredo and Maria Luna. During her early years, her family’s travels led them to Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, where she completed her schooling. She cherished her teenage years in the 1950s, sharing countless memories with her sister, Rosa, and her cousins. It was at a dance that she met the love of her life, Inocencio Rodriguez. At 19, she married him on August 7, 1962, and together they built a beautiful life for 32 years. Bertha and Inocencio began their family in Chicago, Illinois, where they were blessed with three wonderful sons. After 13 years in Chicago, they decided to make San Antonio, Texas, their home. Over the years, their family grew, and Bertha found immense joy in being a grandmother to 13 loving grandchildren and a great-grandmother to six beautiful great-grandchildren. Bertha lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. She loved watching her Novelas, had a passion for dancing, music, hosting celebrations, and sharing stories of her “Lucille Ball” moments—many of which were truly unforgettable. She was strong, courageous, and deeply caring. Throughout her life, she wore many hats in her career, primarily working as a seamstress at Levi Strauss and Miller Curtain. She was also the Lotería Reina of the family, always ready for a game with family and friends. No matter the circumstance, Bertha was there when she was needed most, offering wisdom, unwavering support, and unconditional love. She is preceded in death by her husband, Inocencio Rodriguez, her parents, Alfredo and Maria Luna, and her sisters, Irma Luna, Rosa Carrera, and Norma Aguilera. She is survived by her beloved sons: Alfredo (Anna) Rodriguez, Gerardo (Brenda) Rodriguez, and Sergio (Lauren) Rodriguez; her sisters: Rosaura and Susana; her brothers: Mauricio, Alfredo, and Ismael Luna; along with her 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, cousins, In-laws, and friends. Bertha will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her love, laughter, and legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
