In loving memory of Betty Kathryn Hagan Blanchard. On June 23, 2024, Betty went to live with the Lord. She was born in San Antonio, graduated as Salutatorian from Edison High School and married her husband of 55 years. They built a loving family and beautiful life. She was a devout Christian who influenced many throughout her life in all kinds of ways. She loved God and was incredibly grateful to Jesus for His sacrifice. Betty taught PreK at Dellview Baptist Church for many years. She loved children which is a good thing because she had five. She especially loved three-year-olds. She taught Sunday School - children and later the elder ladies class - directed Vacation Bible School and worked at the church for 40 years. She loved hosting dinners for her family and friends. She was a good cook and a wonderful hostess. She never denied a request to bring someone extra to the event – always saying “the more the merrier!” Another great quote from Grandma is “Everybody is somebody’s weirdo!” – Oh, how she made us laugh! She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Joe Blanchard; fifth child, James David Blanchard (Jimma), grandson, Creston Kiel Blanchard; brothers-in-law, Bill (UB) Zunker and Richard Sealy; nephews, Robert Ahr and Billy (Bee) Zunker. Betty is survived by her four children and their spouses, Kathy and Tom Manegre, Billy and Shan Blanchard, Carol and Jay Lundschen and Laura and John Ladd; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Blanchard; her grandchildren, Barry Blanchard, Sean and Melissa Crane, Will and Kat Blanchard, Cory and Lacey Lundschen, Kendall and Kyle Davis, Geddy and Melissa Ladd, Travis and Marci Ladd, and Jessica Blanchard; perhaps her most treasured family members – her 17 great grandkids: Brylee and Boaz, Kirsten, Weston and Greyson, Carson, Cameron and soon to come baby brother, Theodore and Elliette, Levi, Asher and Joanna, soon to come, Billie Rae, Jonah, Jaxon and soon to come baby brother; her siblings, Tim and JoNell Hagan, Patsy Sealy, and Linda Zunker; and beloved niece, Leslie Zunker. The Service will begin at 12:00 P.M. on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery No. 3. Her family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the excellent care she received from Compassus Palliative Care and Alternative Senior Care. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Dellview Baptist Church, 454 Beryl, San Antonio, Texas 78213.
