“As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” (Joshua 24:15) Bill Neel, beloved husband, father, and grandfather was called home to be with our Lord and Savior. William Douglas Neel was born in Rochester, New York. He graduated from Community College of the Finger Lakes in Canandaigua, New York and later was awarded a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Photography at Rochester Institute of Technology. Most recently he served as a spiritual director while working on his Master’s degree in Pastoral Ministry from Oblate School of Theology in San Antonio, Texas. He enjoyed volunteering at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul and Mobile Loaves & Fishes. Bill’s most important love was to our Lord and to his family. Bill will be dearly missed by his wife of 15 years, Margaret; his children, Allison Liebke and her fiancé, Christian; Valerie Neel, and David Neel and his wife, Nikola; his grandson, Bo; his brother, Dan Neel and his wife, Sue; his sister, Bonnie Shayne; brother-in-law, Gerardo Robledo and his wife, Dolores; nieces and nephews Mary Brophy and her husband, Stephen; Christine Medina and her husband, Mario; Tim Shayne; Julie Neel Wasson; Abby Dietz and her husband, Jim; Alyssa Neel; Steven Neel; Greg Leslie; Matt Leslie and his wife, Sonya; Jason Robledo and his wife, Jennifer; and Philip Robledo; great nephews and great nieces Thomas and Julia Brophy; Gabby, Elena, and James Medina; Codie and Greyson Leslie; Reagan and Brennan Robledo; and Auden and Isla Leslie. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Rosemary Neel; his older brother, John Michael Neel; his brother-in-law, John Shayne; and his sister-in-law, Maria Leslie. Bill worked as a Technical Editor for Inter-Research Science Center in Northern Germany for 16 years through his company, Nelco, which he owned for 25 years. Bill served as a Chaplain at the Bexar County Detention Center in San Antonio, Texas until retirement. As a hobby, he worked at HEB in the Cooking Connections Department as a Food Demo Rep. Some of his other hobbies included photography, cycling, baking, traveling and watching his Buffalo Bills. While living in Germany, he truly enjoyed being a member of the local Baking Club. He was an active participant in many ministries at St. Matthew Catholic Church that included Knights of Columbus, That Man is You, and ACTS. The family is welcoming friends for visitation Thursday, March 13, 2025 starting at 6:00 P.M. followed by the Rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North, 3401 Cherry Ridge Drive, San Antonio, Texas. On Friday, March 14th, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be prayed at 1:30 with the Funeral Mass beginning at 2:00 P.M. at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas 78230. Donations can be made in Bill‘s name to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul at St. Matthew Catholic Church, San Antonio, Texas.
