Bryan James Toscano, best known as BJ, a lifelong resident of San Antonio, TX, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 41. BJ was born on November 21,1976 to Jimmy and Sandy Toscano (ne Hirtle). He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School, and had devoted himself to a career in quality customer service as a Data Integrity Representative with SWBC. In addition to distinction in his work, BJ strived for excellence in being a wonderful “dad” to Ranger; an honorable son to his parents; an admirable older brother to his siblings; a respectable role model to his niece and nephews; and last but not least, a trustworthy and never judgmental friend to all who were lucky enough to know him. BJ had more than just the one nickname—he was also fondly called “B-Bear”, “Beej”, and his sisters often referred to him as “Brother”. BJ had several passions that brought him joy (and sometimes sorrow) such as his devotion to the Chicago Bears and the Texas Longhorns, the Los Angeles Lakers, and the Texas Rangers. Reading was another passion of BJ’s (Steven King was always a favorite), and discussing the latest books they had finished was a favorite pastime for both BJ and his cousin/best friend Daniel. These two kind-hearted souls have always been more like brothers than their family tree would dictate, and not only do they share a love and appreciation of the written word, but a great joy in teasing one another (and others as well) about a Chicago Bears/Dallas Cowboys or a Los Angeles Lakers/San Antonio Spurs victory or loss. “Uncle BJ” served as a positive role model for his niece and two nephews. All three of them enjoyed time with their kind-hearted uncle who was always willing to help expand their vocabulary with new words that he had picked up in his reading. He also enjoyed a good philosophical discussion and would always defend another’s right to their own opinions. Bryan James, BJ, Toscano will be profoundly missed by his family and friends, as well as those who were fortunate enough to make his acquaintance. BJ is survived by his “fur baby” Ranger, his parents Sandy Toscano and Jim Toscano (old timer) (Diana), his sisters Brandee Perez and Kimmy Ward, his brothers LeeRoy Perez, Dave Ward, and Daniel Andrade, and two nephews Joseph, “My lil bro Joe” and Ryan, “My Guy Ry”, his niece Mallory, “My Pal Mal”, and his grandma Katie Hirtle. BJ is also survived by his extended family, aunts and uncles; cousins; and second cousins: Cindy Andrade(Zeke), Julie Mantia, Jim Hirtle, Janet Haley (Arlen), Judy Martinez(Sam), Michael Hirtle (Janie); Angie (Lorna), Katie, Jean (Mike), Tommy (Jennifer), Dennis (Bethany), Jennifer (Rudy), Elizabeth (Steve), James (Samantha), Sara (Zach), Joseph Tyler, Eugene (Melissa), Jason (Tiffany), Joshua (Tamara), Leah (Jesse), Jenn (Lonnie), Steven (Kim), David (Jenn), Bobby (Alana); Chloe, Anavea, Louis, Catalina, Lorelei, Christian, Kennedy, Carmen, Makaila, Emily, Logan, Eugene, Eric, Gracie, Chance, Chayden, Noah, Holly, Caroline, Luke, Alicia, Jade, Emily, Jasmine, DJ, Aiden, Cody, Casey, Caliegh, Trez, Chase, Kenny, Stephanie, Sandy, Ashley, Avery, Ethan, and Jessa. BJ is also survived by his many lifelong friends from Jackson Middle School and Robert E. Lee High School and his many co-workers from SWBC. BJ is preceded in death by his grandparents James and Julie Toscano and grandfather, James Hirtle; his aunt, Sue Brink, and his uncle, Marcello Villalobos.
