Bobbye Jean Mays March 14, 1930 – January 4, 2016 Bobbye Jean Mays "Granny" entered into eternal rest on Monday, January 4th, 2016 at the age of 85. Bobbye Jean is the daughter of Robert H O'Dell and Lallie V Frazier and was born on March 14, 1930 in San Antonio, Texas. Granny was preceded in death by her daughters Brenda Joe Springer and Mickey Diane Cannon; siblings Jerry Joe O'Dell, Nancy Ruth Carr, and Mickey Louise Halvourson. She is survived by her Children Candace Cannon-Kritner, Robert Steve Cannon, Bobbi Colleen O'Dey, Kathleen Johnston-Mann, Sarah "Jane" Mosher and of course her beloved LhasaPoo Munkin; Grandchildren Bobbye Joe Morris, Candace Rene Cole, Jennifer Cannon, Michael Brendan Ricks, Jessica Cannon and numerous Great Grandchildren. Granny was the matriarch of her family and often played the role of mother and grandmother for those outside of her immediate family. Throughout her life she was a vocalist, entertainer, waitress, business owner, baker, was an avid reader with a love of history and mythology, often provided comedic relief, and of course never missed an episode of Lawrence Welk, Carol Burnett, Dennis Miller, Bill O'Reilly, Swamp People, and River Monsters "Fish On". It is without a doubt that she has joined heavens choir with a voice that will fill the skies. At the age of 4 she began singing solo at the Assembly of God Church to include singing to sell war bonds. Starting at 9 years old she sang on KMAC Amateur hour which led to a daily live program with Cecil and Vi and later the 1st international radio broadcast with Red River Dave and a weekly broadcast from Taylor Tabernacle as a soloist. Her love of music continued throughout adult hood and her talent led her to many radio programs to include KONO with her bother Jerry O'Dell, WOAI Radio Rodeo, Channel 5 daily program, and in 1960 she was a special guest on KWKH's Louisiana Hayride with James O'Gwynn. Her spirit and voice will forever fill the hearts of her children and grandchildren and she will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
