BYRON L. HOPE Born: Aug 22, 1935. Died: Dec 14, 2006 after his fight with a lengthy illness in the arms ofhis loving wife of28 Y2 yrs, Blanche. Survived by: daughter Sandy Little husband Alan, sister Ada Lou Hendren husband Ron, stepson Paul Christopher Cedillo wife Kristin, granddaughter Ashley Mitchell & cousins Linda Sprague husband Bill, Jay Goode wife Cissy. Brothers & sisters-in-law: Richard & Alice Dominguez, David & Norma Urdiales, Raul Jr. & Lupe Urdiales, Robert Urdiales, Sr., Richard Urdiales, Sr., Robert & Patricia Carrasco. Preceded in death by: parents Byron B. & Maxine Hope, brother Jarrell Hope, son Byron Michael Hope, beloved mother and father-in-law, Candelaria & Raul A. Urdiales, Sr. Byron L. Hope was born in San Antonio, TX & graduated from Brackenridge H.S. in 1952. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in 1953 & was in the Alamo City Platoon. Byron learned aviation electronics while serving his country with the 3rd Marine Division & continued to work secularly in computer electronics after being honorably discharged. While employed with Bunker Ramo he met his soul mate & love ofhis life, Blanche Urdiales who is still employed by the DEA. Already a devoted father to Sandy & Byron Michael mother Magda, Byron raised & loved Paul Christopher Cedillo as his own son. Byron was active as a coach of several athletic teams & worked closely with the Northwest YMCA. He had the distinguished honor of being named Coach of the Year & was presented with an award at a Spurs game. Byron & Blanche received their BA from Southwest Texas State University. Byron was a very giving & thoughtful person who generously donated his time, effort & money for children whose families lacked needed funds to play sports. For teams facing disbandment for lack of a coach, Byron would volunteer to coach & at times found himself coaching up to 3 teams. Byron was artistically talented & had an eye for photography, earning many awards & honorable mentions. He always made time for good conversation & a cup of coffee. But most of all, Byron was a compassionate man with a deep faith in God, a loving & devoted husband, dad, grandfather & friend. Sincere thanks for the superb special attention given by Dr. Gregory Guzzley & staff Rene, Suzanne, Patty, & others at the Methodist Cancer Center. This helped Byron and the family to get through the rough times. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to: Fallen Soldiers, MDA & CTRC. Mass: Tues, Dec . - 19, l0a at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Manitou, San Antonio, TX, followed by entombment at San Fernando Cemetery #2.
